<br />
But, what it also did was make me realize how much stuff I have, and how long I've been doing this!<br />
<br />
My equipment has been with me for years and years, and some rack makers that I own product from no longer are even in the business!<br />
<br />
I also had no idea that Herpstat now makes a 6 probe thermostat.<br />
WHAAAAAA? That's fantastic! I wish I had that five years ago..<br />
<br />
I feel like I need to get my things in order, and then get updated with more modern and sleek equipment and collection.<br />
<br />
I'm old school, apparently, even without trying to be.<br />
<br />
It will be even more interesting when I get back to doing shows.<br />
<br />
I have lost track of a lot of people over the years, including old customers. I'm sure many of them are doing fantastic, and if you are reading this and have been a prior customer of mine, do post a comment letting me know how you are doing! I'd love to know how far you have come over the years.<br />
<br />
What I have found is that some of my old school reptile friends are no longer with us, including several of my close friends from back in the day.<br />
<br />
This leads me to muse and share this thought with you:<br />
<br />
<b>Life is so short. Enjoy who you can when you can. Don't take anything for granted. </b><br />
<br />
I never expected to have to say goodbye to these people, and it breaks my heart to know I couldn't be there for them being put to rest.<br />
<br />
But, it also reminds me how close you can be to people you have created connections with, and how deep those friendships run.<br />
<br />
I have been blessed with great friends in this industry, and I look forward to seeing many of them again very soon.<br />
<br />
Until next time, my friends. Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12445475046128331168noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2930685593463457360.post-20694032630296052152017-02-10T08:00:00.000-08:002017-02-10T14:25:23.464-08:00Weekend! The weekend is coming, and I am not sure what is happening other than more packing. <br />
<br />
It is soon to be Valentines Day, and of course that means the obligatory date night/dinner/chocolate/roses kind of thing.<br />
<br />
I have to say, I don't tend to partake in it, nor do I really condone it.<br />
<br />
Why must it be only one day? Why not other random days, when it is not expected? Surprise your loved one with random kindnesses throughout the year.<br />
<br />
I digress, however, as I know this will again come up on Tuesday when it is actually the day of reckoning.<br />
<br />
I am moving a bunch of old racks and incubators, tubs and supplies as much as I can so as not to move it again across the country.<br />
<br />
It is shocking how much stuff you accumulate over the years. I honestly have no idea how I managed to keep all of this stuff and subsequently forget about it until its time to move.<br />
<br />
It's a fascinating thing, that. <br />
<br />
So of course, in the journey to clear out, I have found many more items that I am glad to have recovered.<br />
<br />
YAY!<br />
<br />
Such as Marty Cohen.<br />
<br />
You all remember Marty Cohen?<br />
<br />
If not, please visit here:<br />

<br />
And here:<br />

<br />
Yes, I still have him, and yes, he still lives in the snake room.<br />
<br />
Ah, memories.<br />
<br />
Until next time, my friends! Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12445475046128331168noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2930685593463457360.post-63353744726474707262017-02-09T08:00:00.000-08:002017-02-09T11:13:52.505-08:00MOVING... again..So I am about two weeks out from moving back to California, again moving the collection (which has been whittled down over the last few years) across the country, but this time in the Winter.<br />
<br />
This is not a fun thing to do, no matter what time of year, but this is even less fun with the possibility of a cold-blooded creature freezing to death during transport.<br />
<br />
Being responsible for that many lives and counting on others (aka Shipping Companies) to maintain the perfect environment for my boxes is not something that I enjoy, as I know there are so many things that could go wrong.<br />
<br />
BUT! It has to happen. And it happens all the time, and most of the time, there is no problem. So I'm crossing my fingers, packing up appropriately, and sending things on their way when the time comes. <br />
<br />
Not only is there the animals, but the racks, the incubators, and all of the extra things, including the thermostats, water bowls, tubs, etc.<br />
<br />It is not easy. It is not something I encourage, as it puts a strain on many resources, including your sanity.<br />
<br />
But, all anyone can do is prepare as best as they can and make it happen.<br />
<br />
And that, my friends, is what I am doing.<br />
<br />
This rant, of course, is only part of the responsibilities that I have to move back to California. There is also all my regular life stuff..<br />
<br />
Apparently I have enough clothes and shoes for a small army, as well as a lot of random things that have accumulated over the years that I forgot I even had!<br />
<br />
Moving is a great way to purge, cause you really can't bring all of your stuff. This is what I am being reminded of as I pack up the multitudes of boxes, and post things online to sell.<br />
<br />
So if this is motivation to you to go and clean out your closet, or to clear out your unused stuff out of your garage, I say unto you, DO IT. Do it so you won't have a ton of stuff later on to deal with while the clock is ticking.<br />
<br />
And also, be generous. Donate it to needy causes, share with friends, give appropriately. You don't need it anymore. Someone out there does.<br />
<br />
There you have it. I'm off to purge more.<br />
<br />
Until tomorrow, my friends. <br />
<br />

<br />
It has been around two years (maybe more!!) since I had to go silent on the internet about my Ball Python exploits.<br />
<br />
Why, do you ask?<br />
<br />
Because I moved to North Carolina, went back to school, and got my Masters degree.<br />
<br />
Now, I'm done. I've finished! Life goal, complete!<br />
<br />
It's time now for me to get back on track with everything else I had to put on hold to be able to complete my education.<br />
<br />
So, I am slowly going to be blogging again, getting my website back up to speed, as well as getting back into breeding and snake-ing again.<br />
<br />
I realize that two years being gone has put me much more behind the curve than I once was. This has been epically true as I look at the forums, websites, and classifieds. I have a LOT to catch up on.<br />
<br />
On top of everything, we are moving back to California. So that will be another super fun adventure that I get to deal with soon.<br />
<br />
So, I hope that you out there in internet-land are ready to get reacquainted with me and Heather's Herps in general.<br />
<br />
We are back, baby!<br />
<br />

<br />
I've been under a rock for a while, and I still will be for a time. <br />
<br />
I realize that people may be coming back for updates, but the update is that I am not doing snakes for a while.<br />
<br />
I am semi-retired for a bit.<br />
<br />
Please keep this in mind, as I am focusing on a different path right now in life.<br />
<br />
I will be back, so please bear with me.<br />
<br />
Here's to being able to get back to this in 2017. Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12445475046128331168noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2930685593463457360.post-77514537421008516412014-08-13T08:44:00.001-07:002014-08-13T08:44:27.198-07:00Settling in<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So we have been in North Carolina for a month and a half now, and have finally settled in to a point where I feel comfortable. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And apparently, even with all the changes, so is the rest of the family. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-ArTqVC94n5mRiYVMtWL61FbarPw0qi5NiaIFPQivy8cuH1oUu-xd-uQjP1pd2Fm-s7fmt-aro627db6mMNBMuF8RTB3XNa97yNXkD4SXYrf8bd03tPIVbXrow5qsiu_iwHYt7t0zOhj0/s1600/P1190911.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-ArTqVC94n5mRiYVMtWL61FbarPw0qi5NiaIFPQivy8cuH1oUu-xd-uQjP1pd2Fm-s7fmt-aro627db6mMNBMuF8RTB3XNa97yNXkD4SXYrf8bd03tPIVbXrow5qsiu_iwHYt7t0zOhj0/s1600/P1190911.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiG4itkVuhGrwplcnGZDfpGgjOIWRVWd5cput7G5Efwk1SzJ2SdYc5-ZZDXAgYLQ9T1YHH1OZD1_qKMcHy0I0eJG8GYgOGZafa9cquoNRJR-6-1d_cAe8F9iKHhFWkZYOLslVeR6EU8igeH/s1600/P1190909.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiG4itkVuhGrwplcnGZDfpGgjOIWRVWd5cput7G5Efwk1SzJ2SdYc5-ZZDXAgYLQ9T1YHH1OZD1_qKMcHy0I0eJG8GYgOGZafa9cquoNRJR-6-1d_cAe8F9iKHhFWkZYOLslVeR6EU8igeH/s1600/P1190909.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
We never had stairs before like this, so we had a few days of trepidation with the pups. <br />
<br />
Someone really really likes to be king of the stairs. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Also, moving in everything was a complete pain, and took a ridiculous amount of time. <br /><br />
Moving snakes across the country is NOT EASY. It is a blessing to have great friends that helped me out when I needed it, and I am now completely set up (with the exception of a few nick-knacks and decorations). <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoH28vwyfjKUYpMYjphpvO2mbpMExYbVMZFRhXT6Wz_pYBNGJ4_-zUosWcVH6xbfybUJBZzFMZoVDyC1OXVA3DgU5794bLDFtsKqSKV1SRZZsKwQuOrH3-SrVV4rpMzUPJf4VWCC11BTgB/s1600/P1190916.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoH28vwyfjKUYpMYjphpvO2mbpMExYbVMZFRhXT6Wz_pYBNGJ4_-zUosWcVH6xbfybUJBZzFMZoVDyC1OXVA3DgU5794bLDFtsKqSKV1SRZZsKwQuOrH3-SrVV4rpMzUPJf4VWCC11BTgB/s1600/P1190916.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And of course, finding new places to find rodents, the room setup and wiring all took time to do. But I really actually feel comfortable now, which is really relieving!<br />
<br />
After moving and settling in, of course, things started getting back to normal, and I really didn't expect to have another clutch at all. <br /><br />BUT... of course I did.<br />
<br />
I wasn't paying attention at all to this gal, and saw her on eggs while I was watering.<br />
<br />
This female was a breeding project that I intended to do last year (and did, but got no eggs), and put her in with the Mojave Pied to see if he was a Het Albino. I put him in a few months before we moved, and stopped pretty early on. So this clutch has been a surprise....<br />
<br />
I don't even have the incubator up and running because of the temperatures in the room that I haven't mapped out well, so right now, she is still on these eggs. These eggs are also uncounted... but it looks like a good bunch!<br />
<br />
I intend to get things running again, and the blog as well.<br />
<br />
I will be starting school in a few weeks, and until then, I'm freeeeeeee!<br />
<br />
Here's to getting things back in order.<br />
<br />
Have a great day, my friends!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12445475046128331168noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2930685593463457360.post-89969604914014874962014-06-28T15:44:00.001-07:002014-06-28T15:44:35.252-07:00New adventure begins<p dir="ltr">So I've been very very quiet over the last month or so. </p>
<p dir="ltr">This is because I am on the verge of moving across the country. And as some of you may know, it is a difficult journey generally. Add to that difficulty the idea of moving almost 300 snakes with you, and it gets to be a massive undertaking. </p>
<p dir="ltr">I have been blessed with a fantastic group of friends that have helped me in moving these animals across the country before I myself end up over there. </p>
<p dir="ltr">This helps in two ways: my sanity is relatively maintained while I travel, and I am able to focus more on getting the rest of my life over there. </p>
<p dir="ltr">We are still taking some animals with us while we are on our four day road trip, but not the quantities that would have needed to happen without help.</p>
<p dir="ltr">We are also taking our two dogs, some stuff, and each will be driving a car. It's going to be FUN. It will be an adventure that we have not done together before, and Joel had never lived anywhere but Southern California. </p>
<p dir="ltr">Our personal stuff is already ahead of us as well, being taken in boxes across the country. This means that Joel and I are living out of our suitcases. No fridge, no laundry, no bed. What does that mean? Eating out all the time (and gaining so much weight), minimal clothes and sleeping on the floor. </p>
<p dir="ltr">Tomorrow we are on our way driving. We will take four days, and end up in Charlotte before the July 4th holiday. </p>
<p dir="ltr">So I may be quiet again for a little, but photos will be coming! </p>
<p dir="ltr">Here we go!<br>
</p>
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12445475046128331168noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2930685593463457360.post-38790494015860872912014-05-15T06:00:00.000-07:002014-05-15T06:00:00.983-07:00The Higher They Rise, the Harder They Fall..<span style="font-size: x-large;"><b>
WARNING: There will be dead animals in this blog. It will not be pretty and it will be somewhat unpleasant if you are not comfortable with death/exposed flesh/blood/gooey stuff/grossness.</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: x-large;"><b> </b></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: x-large;"><b>
Please turn away now if you are unable to stomach matters as listed above.</b></span><br />
<br />
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~<br />
<br />
The last two eggs were dead. They were sweating while the others were hatching, but I had slight hope that they may magically hatch out and all would be good.<br />
<br />
So when the last Axanthic popped out, I cut the dead eggs.<br />
<br />
And of course, I found two more Axanthic Clowns.<br />
<br />
The first one was actually reasonably well formed, and what I believe to be a Pastel Axanthic Clown.<br />
This can't really be confirmed, as being in the egg and decomposing somewhat, the colors of animals do tend to change.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0GUytESfWKU6dqCroCFA37UY7vDu83ujWXtFV8IWc35VP-jWMozIk2e9cyGT48ETmtdrZT0wV9P_JDfNXJYsoC_EEDFgohowuttIHnfFtO0eupRVq6ftUG8CyTJYOddmLAUDI2-LvsDry/s1600/P1190703.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0GUytESfWKU6dqCroCFA37UY7vDu83ujWXtFV8IWc35VP-jWMozIk2e9cyGT48ETmtdrZT0wV9P_JDfNXJYsoC_EEDFgohowuttIHnfFtO0eupRVq6ftUG8CyTJYOddmLAUDI2-LvsDry/s1600/P1190703.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
But the head color is the indicator that leads me to believe it the most. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnFMUBL7EhdnC93A36tPGY_PrrXrABLYZePcVSwFU3lx6IUsd1xej42gfHiQE-Ksv8rmuBRbeVF8SgBWFhwkMZVHxfZ-vPQv5v327fGHXy2nltn62f2NIWFR5MVc6mwiUOv5ofmpGbXb32/s1600/P1190705.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnFMUBL7EhdnC93A36tPGY_PrrXrABLYZePcVSwFU3lx6IUsd1xej42gfHiQE-Ksv8rmuBRbeVF8SgBWFhwkMZVHxfZ-vPQv5v327fGHXy2nltn62f2NIWFR5MVc6mwiUOv5ofmpGbXb32/s1600/P1190705.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Moving on, I opened up the other egg, and knew that this guy wouldn't have survived anyway.<br />
<br />
It was completely underdeveloped. I'm not sure when it stopped, but it looks pretty bad.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The spinal cord and back never fused together, and the head was misshapen. </div>
<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Had somehow this animal managed to survive to pip, I would have still had to put it down. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And as you can see, it was still attached very much to the yolk and didn't seal up on the belly either. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now let's go back to analysis of the other one. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The color is pretty established on the malformed animal, so I put them next to each other to compare colors. Remember, they died around the same time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Do you see what I'm seeing?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Do you see the obvious color difference?</div>
<br />
I don't think I'm super crazy, but I tend to err on the side of conservative before announcing official things. Especially considering this would have been a world first, as I understand it.<br />
<br />
So... whether it is or not, it didn't make it.<br />
<br />
But I will be trying again, and this time with the Pastel Clown for sure to confirm my suspicions. <br />
<br />
What do you think?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
But on a positive note, three beautiful girls survived.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Something to be grateful for. </div>
<br />
Have a great day, my friends. <br />
<br />
And remember, life is fleeting. Don't take anything for granted.<br />
TSK Axanthic Clown<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDiFHbGf_p9PhihQ_jjGKWrvKSUaZ1Wgx4r7TiD1l982uPqZRklUKB_g2rf2kf-BunCjIb0twXspY2ItXNQXWZ1TmLelapVl-F44SEDO9uDv2_ao4xFwdm1aVgxkjX7MlbI_f37_kz6BHy/s1600/P1190694.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDiFHbGf_p9PhihQ_jjGKWrvKSUaZ1Wgx4r7TiD1l982uPqZRklUKB_g2rf2kf-BunCjIb0twXspY2ItXNQXWZ1TmLelapVl-F44SEDO9uDv2_ao4xFwdm1aVgxkjX7MlbI_f37_kz6BHy/s1600/P1190694.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
So it looks like it's a girl.<br />
<br />
But it is also fully out of the egg, and looks VERY similar to the previous TSK Axanthic Clowns that were produced in 2008 by Bryce Honstead. <a href="http://heathersherpsblog.blogspot.com/2008/06/happy-june.html" target="_blank">Here is the blog with the photos from way back then.</a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br />
<br />
Here the two sisters (as briefly checked by me, so therefore I get to edit the sex on a future date if necessary) in a nice pretty photo together.<br />
<br />
There is another Axanthic pipping right now, with two more eggs to go. The female that produced these girls has popped out a significant amount of Axanthics. Last year the clutch was all Axanthics as well! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCzwAoK-yDyyrHMMNxLPwHO9mvF3HoCAz3jRfVvftOgKQKB_aQnlzjmfJBdWOqY1VHN-ka9_pGep41bQG-HjEia5onu8zEmODFYMqL64J3cgAMwSNc-LBkquqcw6uv4N2wrtRdeQNC5RXQ/s1600/P1190693.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCzwAoK-yDyyrHMMNxLPwHO9mvF3HoCAz3jRfVvftOgKQKB_aQnlzjmfJBdWOqY1VHN-ka9_pGep41bQG-HjEia5onu8zEmODFYMqL64J3cgAMwSNc-LBkquqcw6uv4N2wrtRdeQNC5RXQ/s1600/P1190693.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I am really very pleased with the way this critter turned out.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn6mclrxNgtnsq-G8qWTYiY-VxxnB0AZSjee8ZWcdUDeeWWwuqJB9pZA-JiBNSl0om4wPK-xEvlp_UqRjTxYtNQGPIOSbcPOsR9_jn6SELYskfL1tjJlkhrUQjB7shJ83YlsJkd7FqtWlg/s1600/P1190691.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn6mclrxNgtnsq-G8qWTYiY-VxxnB0AZSjee8ZWcdUDeeWWwuqJB9pZA-JiBNSl0om4wPK-xEvlp_UqRjTxYtNQGPIOSbcPOsR9_jn6SELYskfL1tjJlkhrUQjB7shJ83YlsJkd7FqtWlg/s1600/P1190691.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
As I have mentioned before, I like patternless (alien-head-less) Clowns, and this one fits the bill for sure! <br />
<br />
The one back in 2008 also was very similar to this one, with no pattern on the sides.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgS4E0OMz6aP1vyvEqoB3l4IE7XObbrHZJhyphenhyphen-19_Lznr1i4iMzfzHM5kgdlDeTIXxTYj_Ep_STdkhSGl6VwFK6OBGjL8_lROX1lKtPdeIdN4g6c64yMr0meg5f-6VkTIChTsveMpmyha9q/s1600/P1190702.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgS4E0OMz6aP1vyvEqoB3l4IE7XObbrHZJhyphenhyphen-19_Lznr1i4iMzfzHM5kgdlDeTIXxTYj_Ep_STdkhSGl6VwFK6OBGjL8_lROX1lKtPdeIdN4g6c64yMr0meg5f-6VkTIChTsveMpmyha9q/s1600/P1190702.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I tried to get the real color on camera, and the photo above does the best job at it. They do tend to brown out as they age, and with the morph being as bright and golden toned overall, they dull out to a nice taupe, <a href="http://heathersherpsblog.blogspot.com/2010/09/anahiem-part-two-critters.html" target="_blank">as shown here on this blog from 2010</a>.<br />
<br />
That female in the blog is still here in California, and I hope to track down some updated photos for you to view.<br />
<br />
I am very excited to play with this project, as I have been working towards it for a significant amount of time. I just got there a little faster than expected. YAY!<br />
<br />
Hopefully I have another one in the egg, or something else popping out that can explain what is going on with the males of the breeding.<br />
<br />
Fingers crossed, and check back in tomorrow!<br />
<br />
Have a great day, my friends. Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12445475046128331168noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2930685593463457360.post-30985773644770513022014-05-13T06:00:00.000-07:002014-05-13T13:30:30.965-07:00Clutch #2, pipping out<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwQTD73ZxwAK9Av2UCi-rFbqI2sPjrqd28o2umPDgCySKqIyjrRBbUM75cxJTnFQosVJVXVkJdL61FgHDqNiQlzTWkswXCpFIiRIaRv-su2JEqp6XDRjoPV7VRNyP_SJ6iwSJMUrtQKhpC/s1600/P1190542.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwQTD73ZxwAK9Av2UCi-rFbqI2sPjrqd28o2umPDgCySKqIyjrRBbUM75cxJTnFQosVJVXVkJdL61FgHDqNiQlzTWkswXCpFIiRIaRv-su2JEqp6XDRjoPV7VRNyP_SJ6iwSJMUrtQKhpC/s1600/P1190542.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
So I have a mystery, and I need it solved.<br />
<br />
This clutch that is hatching out is from my TSK Axanthic possible het Clown female to my Clown male and my Pastel Clown male.<br />
<br />
I had intended only to prove out whether or not this female was Het Clown, and so far over the last three years have had no success. <br />
<br />
This year, however, I had <a href="http://heathersherpsblog.blogspot.com/2014/03/eggs.html" target="_blank">eight eggs to see what the odds were</a>.<br />
<br />
So of course, now they are pipping, and the first animal popping out is an Axanthic.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbQQbpEdAmA8rv3K1P1_czq5kkoEtg04tfUe5avzXC1a2e0Wy0JnbnVgS3GfXosAzY1oklUnfoHr7srb_o8Ek8orCp3elu0kZhtjKJsnW60K9lZQxTg7GRb_ycTyp1LYANhq31ES6CljbG/s1600/P1190682.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbQQbpEdAmA8rv3K1P1_czq5kkoEtg04tfUe5avzXC1a2e0Wy0JnbnVgS3GfXosAzY1oklUnfoHr7srb_o8Ek8orCp3elu0kZhtjKJsnW60K9lZQxTg7GRb_ycTyp1LYANhq31ES6CljbG/s1600/P1190682.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a><br />
WHAT???????????????<br />
<br />
There is no good reason this animal should be hatching from this clutch, considering the fact that the female was bred exclusively to Clown and Pastel Clown males this season.<br />
<br />
The slight possibility of retained sperm is there, so I sigh and wait. This little girl popped out on Sunday.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Last night, however, I look in the incubator, and I see this.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEii_6To8HfrE8ISdDWrCjLwhmk6sdjrJsEfuDGaEKEPv7L8t7KkrxqYaH6i3Y1ekHgco6PMIEBvTsrPjPV2882yteqafeiH5H2ytCsbdxfuVqh7RrWy-xFL8nK6oCyFYXCznJ0_E5OUjVyJ/s1600/P1190676.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEii_6To8HfrE8ISdDWrCjLwhmk6sdjrJsEfuDGaEKEPv7L8t7KkrxqYaH6i3Y1ekHgco6PMIEBvTsrPjPV2882yteqafeiH5H2ytCsbdxfuVqh7RrWy-xFL8nK6oCyFYXCznJ0_E5OUjVyJ/s1600/P1190676.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifHjIuqLlGLbdIaf2yYvBuO71GKaszHI2Ay8N0FBd4tA-HTFTsJ8EQKmysZI3Jw0qLQoSJuTO-n8RA95dxgVflXOgLtnhUrNVwM7NTEN-Z13agwUascCt7VMpW4qvhlyuTKxEyRyXRSokr/s1600/P1190678.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifHjIuqLlGLbdIaf2yYvBuO71GKaszHI2Ay8N0FBd4tA-HTFTsJ8EQKmysZI3Jw0qLQoSJuTO-n8RA95dxgVflXOgLtnhUrNVwM7NTEN-Z13agwUascCt7VMpW4qvhlyuTKxEyRyXRSokr/s1600/P1190678.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
WHAAAAAAAAAAAT??????????</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So yeah. I hit on the TSK Axanthic Clown. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I should be stoked, right?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Problem is, I have no idea how I did it!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUaMPrsoQ34leqa_ArLYydFSI04FF6xyC1HieDcrJoU0uM0WM4eEcNdldBTOEc8IZhWFwyOgHGJBjOBLtGMutDZwpCrjgQCKY-zkRsJSMTiSMrebMa-nIS1EqJBVtwcTuR1Ml2ymEdBEl1/s1600/P1190685.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUaMPrsoQ34leqa_ArLYydFSI04FF6xyC1HieDcrJoU0uM0WM4eEcNdldBTOEc8IZhWFwyOgHGJBjOBLtGMutDZwpCrjgQCKY-zkRsJSMTiSMrebMa-nIS1EqJBVtwcTuR1Ml2ymEdBEl1/s1600/P1190685.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
So I'm thinking that this is a possible scenario.<br />
<br />
Way back in the olden days, I didn't have clown stuff.. I had Het Clown stuff. I got a Het Clown male from Bryce Honstead of Reptile Image, who produced the first <a href="http://heathersherpsblog.blogspot.com/2008/06/happy-june.html" target="_blank">TSK Axanthic Clowns</a>. (Click to read/see the original babies from 2008. I WAS THERE FOR THAT! ) <!-------><!-------><!----blog--><br />
<br />
I knew the male was 100% het Clown, and that was it.<br />
<br />
Fast forward a year, and I breed the Het to a Pastel and keep all the Het females. I have 0.1 possible Het Clown and 0.2 Pastel possible Het Clowns.<br />
<br />
Grow them up, and breed them to a Clown...<br />
<br />
I hatched out 1.1 Pastel Clowns from one of the Pastels, which I then held back.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgg1AKj7qVad7GZx0GNpmV34BVLYCCP9mOMavTvtKc4YNNsszoV-dwHJplOHEozOStET7SWQt2BbUtKTNExTh8V1Y2chKyu0rjOuEgTp4qpB4XDGn1OhIiRaLlPWV797SEQLURR7h3XtLkj/s1600/P1190687.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgg1AKj7qVad7GZx0GNpmV34BVLYCCP9mOMavTvtKc4YNNsszoV-dwHJplOHEozOStET7SWQt2BbUtKTNExTh8V1Y2chKyu0rjOuEgTp4qpB4XDGn1OhIiRaLlPWV797SEQLURR7h3XtLkj/s1600/P1190687.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
All the while, the TSK Axanthic possible het Clown Female, also from Bryce, is growing and breeding and not showing any signs of anything Clown like.<br />
<br />
THIS YEAR, I bred the Clown male (from a completely different source, and pictured first), and the Pastel Clown male that I produced from my clutches wayyyyy back in the day. (Did I mention WAAAAYYYY back in the day?)<br />
<br />
So... my thought is that my Pastel Clown male is also het TSK Axanthic. And that my Het Clown from WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY back in the day was also het TSK Axanthic.<br />
<br />
And I lucked out super style with possible hets.<br />
<br />
Cause there is no other explanation for this. At all. (Unless you can think of one...)<br />
<br />
So... yeah.<br />
<br />
There are three more eggs to hatch, and two or three that went bad. (I'm crossing my fingers on one of them).<br />
<br />
We shall see when everyone comes out what the heck is going on.. at least more of the puzzle.<br />
<br />
Yeesh.<br />
<br />
Have a great day, my friends. <br />
<br />
So the first clutch of the season hatched on Good Friday, and it was a GOOD FRIDAY!<br />
<br />
I have been planning to breed the dame, the Pinstripe het Pied possible het Hypo female, to be able to prove out the Hypo genes. With that, I needed a Hypo Pied something, and the Pastel Hypo het Pied male I had fit the bill.<br />
<br />
This was one of those projects I was working on for a while, and finally got eggs from this year.<br />
<br />
I am thrilled with the results of the pairing, even if the female has yet to prove to be 100% het Hypo.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEig4FnNRg7j-CEjyDHxflwKVsFry9uAJ7-gIIMd74aDrYFXISkRDUNMRtcoZ3v2l6rbM_FBfDTUfySzAdLd9kFw4vVeGJqxRF8mcmDQ-IR4bPoJeLs45Ga7dLK9C6-O41jigHUASGGzq_hH/s1600/P1190611.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEig4FnNRg7j-CEjyDHxflwKVsFry9uAJ7-gIIMd74aDrYFXISkRDUNMRtcoZ3v2l6rbM_FBfDTUfySzAdLd9kFw4vVeGJqxRF8mcmDQ-IR4bPoJeLs45Ga7dLK9C6-O41jigHUASGGzq_hH/s1600/P1190611.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The results are as follows:<br />
<br />
1.0 100% Het Hypo 66% possible Het Pied<br />
0.1 Pastel 100% Het Hypo 66% possible Het Pied<br />
0.1 Pied 100% Het Hypo<br />
1.0 Pinstripe Pied 100% Het Hypo<br />
0.1 Lemonblast Pied 100% Het Hypo<br />
<br />
<br />
This female Pied is almost solid with her stripe. I love it!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyJBEY_AXxd3ydfG3GWa19R5eGFsrT7S_25XuZJVjak8uTSbSXfQVzr01TV2r31vgiHBww-Nquk-TP9fViN1lLhwBuDpL4DbtkAtk4lyE2V8rRZQq5HdYjfrbMbCT2yTljsj0V9XlHKblw/s1600/P1190622.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyJBEY_AXxd3ydfG3GWa19R5eGFsrT7S_25XuZJVjak8uTSbSXfQVzr01TV2r31vgiHBww-Nquk-TP9fViN1lLhwBuDpL4DbtkAtk4lyE2V8rRZQq5HdYjfrbMbCT2yTljsj0V9XlHKblw/s1600/P1190622.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I had yet to hatch Pinstripe Pieds, and I have to say, I really like them! The stripe still stays, and the orange colors are so much more vibrant from the Pinstripe, I look forward to seeing them grow.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinHL1QZdQusScDP8IUxUSbluUYD1mRloCSzV5yvc6Y89N-RH5yJ65nsZiNlvKIFAY9d1krYQd3nFIsWymvmXlH_YoMyc7viGz7ifmKcasqODMS98o3p2DVPjhtm9TUfHuWCjqT8PcVT5-J/s1600/P1190615.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinHL1QZdQusScDP8IUxUSbluUYD1mRloCSzV5yvc6Y89N-RH5yJ65nsZiNlvKIFAY9d1krYQd3nFIsWymvmXlH_YoMyc7viGz7ifmKcasqODMS98o3p2DVPjhtm9TUfHuWCjqT8PcVT5-J/s1600/P1190615.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This male is really stunning.. I am very impressed!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ2LWAOJQSNgM566VC_y9UazW6Oozz1jAtAIWCpNAEB14qdeT6qMtLA4dLEdFYwpZ9JE_Pcc9ADIK6kSZTxIfqeXXpz9tVMH7ueiKOX-3cPegie5kdmFXuK8cZpTTe9GhWN-NnLZLwyxyA/s1600/P1190618.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ2LWAOJQSNgM566VC_y9UazW6Oozz1jAtAIWCpNAEB14qdeT6qMtLA4dLEdFYwpZ9JE_Pcc9ADIK6kSZTxIfqeXXpz9tVMH7ueiKOX-3cPegie5kdmFXuK8cZpTTe9GhWN-NnLZLwyxyA/s1600/P1190618.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And this little girl will be staying with me. I don't have many multiple gene Pied females, so of course, why would I not keep something that has two co-dominant genes and two recessive? <br />
<br />Seems like a no-brainer.<br />
<br />
I am very pleased with this first clutch, and the next clutch is due in a few weeks from now as well.<br />
<br />
I don't expect a ton of clutches this year due to the move, but if I do get eggs that are around during the move, that will be an interesting transition...<br />
<br />
To be discussed (thanks for the question, Kristal!) at a later date. <br />
<br />
Have a great day, my friends! Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12445475046128331168noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2930685593463457360.post-61864242692708262352014-04-07T06:00:00.000-07:002014-04-07T10:04:33.357-07:00Official AnnouncementSo I have been holding on to this for a while, and can explain why the blog has been sporadic for the last year or so.<br />
<br />
Are you ready for this???<br />
<br />
I will be moving.<br />
<br />
Joel and I will be moving to Charlotte, North Carolina so that I can pursue my Masters in Physician Assistant Studies. I got accepted into a program in late January. <br />
<br />
We will be moving in July, and I have been making arrangements for a while since knowing. <br />
<br />
I have known this for several months, but due to the nature of the internet and how things are, I wanted to keep it close to the vest due to my professional obligations and other situations until it was appropriate. <br />
<br />
So, this is the reason why I am selling adults, moving babies and being extremely busy. <br />
<br />
This is a HUGE change in our lives, as neither of us have lived outside of California for an extended period of time. <br />
<br />
Now, as many people have already asked, here's how it will go. <br />
<br />
I will still be Heather's Herps. I will still be breeding snakes, although not in quantity as I had been over the last few years. <br />
<br />
I will be focusing on pairings that I have goals for, and will maintain a collection that will be manageable for Joel and myself while I am in a very strenuous and demanding program. <br />
<br />
I did, and enjoyed it greatly, announce it on Facebook on April Fools Day. That was FUN! <br />
<br />
Anyway, please keep this in mind while I am adjusting. I will be able to answer e-mails and ship animals as before, but I may have a period of time when I will be unable to do things. <br />
<br />
Thanks for all of your support over the years, and I will be here still! <br />
<br />
Have a great day, my friends. Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12445475046128331168noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2930685593463457360.post-7128070270476753412014-03-26T06:00:00.000-07:002014-03-26T06:00:01.505-07:00Clutch #3- Long time goals<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOSK4Q1PaE5m_vxOh99fCRInKrS4JbGpD8B6BZVzA2qCnJ6cQHFuKjszaEPV4iI61HInTGxPNsqhwm3SRlz8GY8GT9UFD-Mp9quMkAPzHH0BLhoEn00v6gfRGSBdHnbw01VjdeMt1D8HTm/s1600/P1190569.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOSK4Q1PaE5m_vxOh99fCRInKrS4JbGpD8B6BZVzA2qCnJ6cQHFuKjszaEPV4iI61HInTGxPNsqhwm3SRlz8GY8GT9UFD-Mp9quMkAPzHH0BLhoEn00v6gfRGSBdHnbw01VjdeMt1D8HTm/s1600/P1190569.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
So this is clutch #3 of the year. This female I've had for a long time, and gave her a few years off before trying again this year. I didn't put her with the male for long, so I can't say I was not surprised when I saw her flat tire-ing a few days ago.<br />
<br />
But I went back in to check on her last night, and she was already on eggs.<br />
<br />
She was paired up with the Spider het TSK Axanthic het Albino. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4146lkzLrfDiZuucD1izlCjqis1RZ4izQ2NLorTdZ60rOPbrojtI-IMMm12ttuPulyDmL-QrXGf52rmRT2h568XDkwwyDcNeS_1W7HWEoaQvG55l5mwn8-0JszMRuIKVVrovP4qImFF3T/s1600/P1190571.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4146lkzLrfDiZuucD1izlCjqis1RZ4izQ2NLorTdZ60rOPbrojtI-IMMm12ttuPulyDmL-QrXGf52rmRT2h568XDkwwyDcNeS_1W7HWEoaQvG55l5mwn8-0JszMRuIKVVrovP4qImFF3T/s1600/P1190571.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
As the photo states, there were six eggs and one slug. Hopefully this will be a better clutch for hitting on the Snow Spider.<br />
<br />
I've been trying for this project for almost five years now, and I am hoping to finally get it. <br />
<br />
Fingers crossed!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiepz0AeRUJLPaqeFgLzXHW6ONgDivpE2KNlx1XUKAtMyyWJ898V3BSgqxB4_mcCzGVZLjqfpb2T9EIvSC_B002ARGSTETafsjasLfTbaMIofrlUWNli93ZHq02T5Qo_A67t9MOe463oIYB/s1600/P1190567.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiepz0AeRUJLPaqeFgLzXHW6ONgDivpE2KNlx1XUKAtMyyWJ898V3BSgqxB4_mcCzGVZLjqfpb2T9EIvSC_B002ARGSTETafsjasLfTbaMIofrlUWNli93ZHq02T5Qo_A67t9MOe463oIYB/s1600/P1190567.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And while checking, I saw this happen. This pairing is one of the few that I am still allowing to happen at this point, and I'm excited to see if it comes to fruition.<br />
<br />
So yeah.<br />
<br />
The season has come pretty early this year, and I'm ready for the babies!<br />
<br />
Have a great day, my friends! <br />
<br />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12445475046128331168noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2930685593463457360.post-21840233454031121382014-03-20T06:00:00.000-07:002014-03-20T06:00:11.481-07:00Eggs!The second clutch of the year is here, and I am pretty excited about it.<br />
<br />
I've spent a lot more time trying to prove out my Hets this year, and it seems to be working out.<br />
<br />
The females that have laid so far are both unproven Hets, and I can't wait to see if they prove!<br />
<br />
The TSK Axanthic female that laid last night is a female that was supposed to have proven last year, but did not give me anything close to something I could come to a conclusion on.<br />
<br />
Two eggs, three slugs, and the babies that hatched out were both Axanthics.<br />
<br />
What am I supposed to do with that?<br />
<br />
So now, I get a better chance to see what is going on in there genetically.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Here's to having some really awesome clearly identifiable babies in there with Axanthic and Clown qualities. <br />
<br />
I'm going to toast to that.<br />
<br />
Have a great day, my friends!<br />
<br />
We went on a cruise on the Mexican Riviera. It was Joel's first time cruising, so that was fun.<br />
<br />
Several things to take away from the trip, as will be listed below:<br />
<br />
1) Cruises are attended with the majority of the passengers well over 60 years old. (And in our case, many many people from Canada)<br />
<br />
2) Mexico is really nice (where we stopped- Cabo, Puerto Vallarta, La Paz and Loreto)<br />
<br />
3) Snorkeling *in clear water* is awesome, and I would do it all the time if I could. <br />
<br />
4) Whale sharks are also awesome, but if you can't see through the water clearly, you will not be able to see them clearly.<br />
<br />
5) Whales move relatively fast. If you don't look and have your camera in the right area at the right time, you will miss an awesome shot.<br />
<br />
6) Sea turtles look like trash from up high on a boat, and don't swim very fast.<br />
<br />
7) There is such thing as too much food. This occurs often on cruise ships.<br />
<br />
8) I didn't take enough photos.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br />
I hope you enjoyed the photos.<br />
<br />
It takes me back to a time where I didn't have to worry about anything but not getting ill from walking on moving ground.<br />
<br />
I highly recommend it to those with a thirst for relaxation and are okay with limited quarters.<br />
<br />
We will be going again eventually.<br />
<br />
Maybe not "soon", but soon enough. <br />
<br />
OUT.<br />
<br />
And this is where I will be.<br />
<br />
Talk to you soon!<br />
<br />
I'm not even going to attempt to apologize for it any more.<br />
Seems like the last six months have been nothing but apologies and lack of commitment afterwards.<br />
<br />
Let me update you all about the situation.<br />
<br />
I am in the process of planning to go back to school. I was in school taking classes before, but now I am actually planning to attend a Master's Program.<br />
<br />
This changes a lot of things, mainly because my focus in the near future will be to get thru my Master's program.<br />
<br />
What does this ultimately mean?<br />
<br />
Well, I am working on cutting down the collection to something more manageable given the time that I will have (or not have) after everything is said and done.<br />
<br />
At this time, nothing has been set in stone, but there will be a greater amount of larger animals for sale over the next few months.<br />
<br />
Also, I have not been breeding and pairing to the extent that I normally would. <br />
<br />
I can't justify putting animals thru the process of everything just to move them when the time comes.<br />
<br />
Am I getting out of the business?<br />
<br />
NO.<br />
<br />
Am I moving?<br />
<br />
NO... (<span style="font-size: xx-small;">*maybe*</span>)<br />
<br />
Things are getting hectic, and I am trying to get everything in order so that I can gracefully flow into the position that my options allow me to be in. <br />
<br />
So, as many of you have, or have not, depending on who you are, please bear with me in this transition.<br />
<br />
I will be updating as I know more, and as things progress with plans. <br />
<br />
<br />
As always, have a great day, my friends. Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12445475046128331168noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2930685593463457360.post-5391725257440166252013-10-11T06:00:00.000-07:002013-10-11T06:00:09.975-07:00Sadness, Joy and Snakes<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am sad to report that AFF did not make it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Her swelling did not subside no matter what I tried, and she began to have seizures. As it looked like she ould not be able to have a good quality of life, we decided to put her down. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was the merciful thing to do, as she never did eat or move well. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I absolutely HATE this part of the business, and I have never been able to completely come to terms with having to do it no matter how many times we have had to.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Joel helps me with this part, since there are times where I cannot deal with it alone. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am glad to have him.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy6Jx0lZOHO9nj38pKIZmDYKvfTT4ek3LvXcorsRSXwXPnpeC9DuoQ6u60tQQFqMSx_270J1V4LvjtXYKoup6sFB86IXlMTsvRZgCBqvFl4ol4o7VyldDHHjbugdH8F4eF5jYgMhp7Zc_0/s320/P1190155.JPG" width="320" /></div>
<br />
Anyway, in an effort to stop thinking to hard about the inevitable, I took lots of pictures. It has been a few months since I have really gotten in there and took photos, so this was a refreshing change of pace.<br />
<br />
Also, I have figured out how to play Pandora in the snake room, which makes my life in the room much more enjoyable.<br />
<br />
Music is one of my joys as well. I sing in the snake room often, and although I can't claim that there is much in the way of benefit to the snakes, it makes me feel better about shoveling snake excrement and getting bit by little snotty snakes.<br />
<br />
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The original! The Onyx</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Just sing your cares away! <br />
<br />
As I promised a few weeks ago, I have the original Onyx up for a photo session. I actually think I may be able to use her this year, and I have NO IDEA what to put her to. That will be fun to figure out. <br />
<br />
Lastly, my other new joy... (kinda).<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Meet Dr. Bun Bun McChubby.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She was found by a friend of mine at his work, in the botanical gardens. Apparently someone abandoned her, and he caught her and put her up for adoption.<br />
<br />
I, being the excessive animal lover that I am, and never having had a rabbit before, jumped at the chance. <br /><br />I expected to be deathly allergic to her, as I am with many many other furry creatures.<br />
<br />
I am NOT.<br />
<br />
HOORAY!<br />
<br />
So now, we have a bunny.<br />
<br />
And Joel calls her "Doc".<br />
<br />
Case in point:<br />
<br />
Joel: "What's up, Doc?"<br />
Bun Bun: ........<br />
<br />
Also, it is amusing to note that she does not seem to like men. Different...<br />
<br />
Anyway, that is all for the week so far.<br />
<br />
<br />
I am looking forward to seeing the reports back from NARBC Tinley this weekend. <br />
<br />
<br />
I'm sure there will be plenty to talk about.<br />
<br />
Until next week, my friends.<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIlMtgAIGiNsiLSJ0b3TRLIAitMbvEqon7VPiRPHh8iksIrbyWAT9MDHcbsnXcCaudlZjEjvSm9O3cr1923Uv1CU93q1VJHAA3AHcQ4JG4yUFmIMv1_RmcyVBhNnuSndhfrkB7h-T7BC5p/s1600/P1190155.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIlMtgAIGiNsiLSJ0b3TRLIAitMbvEqon7VPiRPHh8iksIrbyWAT9MDHcbsnXcCaudlZjEjvSm9O3cr1923Uv1CU93q1VJHAA3AHcQ4JG4yUFmIMv1_RmcyVBhNnuSndhfrkB7h-T7BC5p/s320/P1190155.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Now that it is time again to think about pairings, I go back to the problem that I always have...<br />
<br />
Pairings that make sense NOW or pairings that make sense LATER.<br />
<br />
I am the type of person to set goals and work towards them for as long as it takes... Especially back in the day when Possible Hets were the only thing affordable in the Recessive game. I bought groups of possible hets to try and prove out. I actually still have a few that have yet to be proven one way or the other.<br />
<br />
But does that make sense now?<br />
<br />It is much easier now a days to find someone who has made that piece of your breeding puzzle, and all you need to do is plunk down some dollas/scrilla/scratch/cheddar or offer them a trade.<br />
<br />
Or both. <br />
<br />
I personally like Cheddar. It's delicious. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUA6VqJ7OhX3gfCyl6EP1Ed2wTnUquFBpIFoaGnifRoeREJem2lXM6nyff6bSWPkIfaABbnd_5uLXeVb66OUMZJ7VFap9NJLkQcne-gK5ZMynKKrXdY4nWApcI0fBa4jaCG6yMz0s3JjJn/s1600/P1190156.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUA6VqJ7OhX3gfCyl6EP1Ed2wTnUquFBpIFoaGnifRoeREJem2lXM6nyff6bSWPkIfaABbnd_5uLXeVb66OUMZJ7VFap9NJLkQcne-gK5ZMynKKrXdY4nWApcI0fBa4jaCG6yMz0s3JjJn/s320/P1190156.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
As I am sure that some people are infinitely more patient than I, there are people that like working with Hets. And I really respect that.<br />
<br />
I do it, but now it has been with 100%ers.<br />
<br />
It took me a LONG time to get into the Clown project. I made my own Possible Hets from a Het male, and proved them out over the last three years.<br />
<br />
Back then, for me, the pairing made sense.. Het Clown to Pastel female. DONE.<br />
<br />
Now?<br />
<br />
I wouldn't do it. <br />
<br />
Reason?<br />
<br />
Resources. I have more opportunities and more animals that I can play with. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUvHcAgD340sgrF7dUwfKh0swgDT6yubG2fKuv4BMZulpsvgxTWZa0GXeuSdRr_rv0kcQV47z8Kqnh_fQfE8TR3n9t6KErMlAFaLbU4ANaIBuRTczpBXCdZz0aBiWYuorVDhRVbJDDLcef/s1600/P1190157.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUvHcAgD340sgrF7dUwfKh0swgDT6yubG2fKuv4BMZulpsvgxTWZa0GXeuSdRr_rv0kcQV47z8Kqnh_fQfE8TR3n9t6KErMlAFaLbU4ANaIBuRTczpBXCdZz0aBiWYuorVDhRVbJDDLcef/s320/P1190157.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And those animals make sense.<br />
<br />
Now I absolutely support people doing what I did back in the day if that is what you can and want to do. It is very rewarding and a great way to make sure that the possible hets are possible! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9bT5uXVRR0S_bjByvqxbkTKe3rXPfaTwl9h6jH0uNzJxpj5b_K0RHjoTk-XBHKQHpTds0xLn2Mi960LlQLmRHsoymQ8U6IvS-eNVrVA-Lgmo8mwEr-nbPtS3q667iQaiDIHSd9Vf1Lw1B/s1600/P1190167.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9bT5uXVRR0S_bjByvqxbkTKe3rXPfaTwl9h6jH0uNzJxpj5b_K0RHjoTk-XBHKQHpTds0xLn2Mi960LlQLmRHsoymQ8U6IvS-eNVrVA-Lgmo8mwEr-nbPtS3q667iQaiDIHSd9Vf1Lw1B/s320/P1190167.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Back then, it was easier. Less options, more clear cut projects to work on. <br />
<br />
Now, my head swims with ideas and new things to pair up and see what happens.<br />
<br />
Still not sure what I am doing with some animals, like the Onyx.<br />
<br />
But of course, with more resources comes more responsibility... and things to think about.<br />
<br />
It's charting time.<br />
<br />
And introductions to new males for the season.<br />
<br />
Tell me: What do you plan to do, and how do you plan it?<br />
<br />
Let's discuss...<br />
<br />
Have a great day, my friends!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12445475046128331168noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2930685593463457360.post-65158769873462568792013-10-07T06:00:00.000-07:002013-10-07T06:00:05.217-07:00Distractions from Snakes<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgv_urJ0_-H4oT6MwJBbCRpoHQ2XVqgZTdwXuhjTZxcWfCs67Q6Zd-gHlMJ3RXQq7wY8H_J1_WL4hGrDuI_akNPw0lK4RVvsh_qBhGsM8sX84-_eiKIG1X_8ieUPoZFBR33MVXs9fFoZG0g/s1600/P1190039.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgv_urJ0_-H4oT6MwJBbCRpoHQ2XVqgZTdwXuhjTZxcWfCs67Q6Zd-gHlMJ3RXQq7wY8H_J1_WL4hGrDuI_akNPw0lK4RVvsh_qBhGsM8sX84-_eiKIG1X_8ieUPoZFBR33MVXs9fFoZG0g/s320/P1190039.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
So I admit it... There are times where I am distracted from dealing with the snakes.<br />
<br />
If you are a constant reader, you know that I work full time, do school to pursue my Masters, and have a few things like a Husband and fuzz children to take care of.<br />
<br />
I have also fallen prey to Candy Crush, Plants vs. Zombies, and The Simpsons: Tapped Out! games...<br />
<br />
It's rather sad how often I indulge, where I know I should be doing other more productive things. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNFVIyem9qlCRpcxf4DNqAIxboWIaZyAUaaPXA049Gxf5OqAWbRrlLlHuLDJzGL2iwWK7MSkgimebWkNb-AucdyaTghQrgCbtzQIES3L0x_4-yJ6811v5BcStQj2tNvJAVCwdf7UDhw21s/s1600/P1190071.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNFVIyem9qlCRpcxf4DNqAIxboWIaZyAUaaPXA049Gxf5OqAWbRrlLlHuLDJzGL2iwWK7MSkgimebWkNb-AucdyaTghQrgCbtzQIES3L0x_4-yJ6811v5BcStQj2tNvJAVCwdf7UDhw21s/s320/P1190071.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
BUT!!!<br />
<br />
I do get back into the groove when I know it is time, and the snakes get their fair shake, especially now that I have dedicated the time to do the blog at least three times a week.<br />
<br />
But of course, as I am typing this, I am also playing Candy Crush on my iPad.<br />
<br />
Multitasking for the win!<br />
<br />
(BTW: Level 410 is a BITCH.) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinsQKWfeFsSJdq8JPwiibHc_K9BKxvhRg3_hfk24DNEauI3-bKy8wP1_gPjVtiKS29DpfQzjCSw4S1_syCd4eKHflGu2Qvs4hq0-c56eZapB4MMTW6vqZNfAX_3dDef5r2HppW2Pw8TYXP/s1600/P1190074.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinsQKWfeFsSJdq8JPwiibHc_K9BKxvhRg3_hfk24DNEauI3-bKy8wP1_gPjVtiKS29DpfQzjCSw4S1_syCd4eKHflGu2Qvs4hq0-c56eZapB4MMTW6vqZNfAX_3dDef5r2HppW2Pw8TYXP/s320/P1190074.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
So with this season already winding down for me, the next season is upon me!<br />
I am working on a plan to revamp the collection, and I am already rather conflicted.<br />
<br />
WHAT DO I KEEP WORKING ON? WHAT DO I LET GO OF?<br />
<br />
I spend plenty of time figuring things out in the rest of my world, and managing things well.<br />
<br />
Now when it comes to the snakes, there are times where I am completely stumped.<br />
<br />
I have been doing this for a while, and there is always something new and cool to do... which completely derails the plans from two or three years ago when I got into a particular project. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbcpnphoCX5vAB9xQCmbj8cMvbeyVmOPSn379iu6EUH6mjP9UVuldt2XxRsW__KFOPvH5Cb143J2X2x8iSDel8VD2-Mif-2TpkUFepHGZmKsaFCr2kJsU6-z33xkbmZinylL14B_BBqN6C/s1600/P1190076.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbcpnphoCX5vAB9xQCmbj8cMvbeyVmOPSn379iu6EUH6mjP9UVuldt2XxRsW__KFOPvH5Cb143J2X2x8iSDel8VD2-Mif-2TpkUFepHGZmKsaFCr2kJsU6-z33xkbmZinylL14B_BBqN6C/s320/P1190076.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have to say that half of the stuff I made this year was not planned for a particular project. And of course when I have people ask me "What is a good project to start in?", I always answer "Whatever you like the most!"</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That is a complete cop-out, and I know it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The problem with answering that question is this: I am not you. I have no idea what you like, what your resources are, what you want to really do in this hobby....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I can't answer that question without just saying "Morph X" because it looks cool, or because I have one for sale... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And that is not right, and I can not in good conscience do that to anyone. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, as I have learned this technique in my life, I answer the question with another question, so that you can figure it out yourself without my random suggestion that has no real bearing on what you want. </div>
<br />Anyway, with all of the distractions I have, I always spend the time on the blog to convince myself that now is the time to focus on what the heck I'm doing. This is important, and I really do need to get on it.<br />
<br />
The list of things has been made, and I need to get to pairing plans soon. There are a few animals that are already paired, and I have to say it will be fun this year, with lots of things ready to go.<br />
<br />
What do you think would be cool to see? Give me suggestions to add to the list of things to make happen...<br />
<br />
Of course, if you are looking to buy a certain morph, that would also help me work it in as well. Help me help you..<br />
<br />
Have a great week, my friends. Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12445475046128331168noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2930685593463457360.post-61674169867591678242013-10-04T06:00:00.000-07:002013-10-04T06:00:01.114-07:00Growing Males and Plans<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It seriously seems like I am talking about planning the next season every other month. This year went by SO FAST!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And of course, when that happens, I have to stop and account for the things that have happened over the year and figure out what the heck I'm going to do.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I just finished compiling a list of what I have (with not everything, cause I'm still debating on a few things).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8dDK4A2sG7sqTD81OzidmZ1wF_oom_YEB-albGmVPW_riugUeUgkowwu3Ke01gthv_9tFkHAm_ebTS3X3UcIskC8oTUFw4tvhSJH1n0EAwTmyPJgFSg10lXsbE7uHL2VlX6xBFAC23sob/s320/P1190027.JPG" /><br /> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Like this guy. Black Pewter Mojave het Pied male...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Total powerhouse, 'amirite?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But should I keep him, keep his sister, sell them both and work it out???</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I don't know yet.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
To be determined.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And then there are those males that I held back or got last year that I am ready to consider using.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I did jump into the Coral Glow stuff last year. I LOVE how he looks. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And the black spots keep popping up everywhere. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br />No, he does not have mites. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They are just awesome spots. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Spots of awesome.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(I'm going to see if I can make that a thing... Spots of awesome, not unlike the Egg Butt Puff of breeding females. That caught on pretty well... We shall see)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4fVSrYo41XZ6qKqeqtiwKGiYD3kGqDIB5ktlfXuH-ndSxHj3PHsFHqVvnP1xEUkOohwcMAYQesBd_05XTmsJ7uDq1QPlKa0Cmo2y0VbYEfRFyXZD8YWfRvex6o_xt2QhBpJ1YZpaag3r1/s320/P1190081.JPG" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Of course, it is a little blurry, but this is one of my newest acquisitions. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Welcome to the fold, Puma! I am going to work this into the Solar Flare stuff and see what happens.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
He's pretty bad-ass. I do not have any Super Stripe Stuff to compare it to, but I like the way he looks. Maybe even get a Super Stripe just for comparison... Dunno. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Clever name for him? I'm not there yet. Give me some time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZBJCbzYHiUxCrpImMkQEKVVB9eIyKx6YhOOgWGHyHo-SRjjmI10iTCOJFlKolenHt-Ai4gnzsfnvvVd8ukSW0eFJPYYRZhjhE-AZjVdLGfcUwkTxWKsEZkW7U7ojXwaUJAd32642ZyTs5/s1600/P1190066.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZBJCbzYHiUxCrpImMkQEKVVB9eIyKx6YhOOgWGHyHo-SRjjmI10iTCOJFlKolenHt-Ai4gnzsfnvvVd8ukSW0eFJPYYRZhjhE-AZjVdLGfcUwkTxWKsEZkW7U7ojXwaUJAd32642ZyTs5/s320/P1190066.JPG" /></a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And this guy was a purchase from a while back that is being used in several projects here to complete some female pairings. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOm1Bo28xum3ILQpOqGvOQMGs6vFDu5_Tl6PPPhGAjH1wujCRIjhBg7lfzce4EeHsQzYC9zcwXvluXKQdcTEjhfQk73rYrs9wiDVSdLvh51gl-Ic9TIuAmlN-90a5DHU-texSUtid7Gebt/s1600/P1190087.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOm1Bo28xum3ILQpOqGvOQMGs6vFDu5_Tl6PPPhGAjH1wujCRIjhBg7lfzce4EeHsQzYC9zcwXvluXKQdcTEjhfQk73rYrs9wiDVSdLvh51gl-Ic9TIuAmlN-90a5DHU-texSUtid7Gebt/s320/P1190087.JPG" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is POG 2.0. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Pastel Orange Ghost 2.0. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2.0, you ask?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well, he is the newest version of POG male in my collection. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br />POG het Pied. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So... POGHP.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm not even sure how to pronounce that.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Pawguhhupp?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
Kids come around wanting to touch and hold, parents are there to teach and exhaust their overhyped children, and everyone wants hand sanitizer. (I have several bottles on the table, and EVERYONE uses it... even if just to come by and pump some out, ignoring my greetings)<br />
<br />
I enjoy teaching people about the awesomeness that is Ball Pythons, but I get the oddest questions. Let's review some, shall we?<br />
<br />
"So these are Boa Pythons?"<br />
My response: Those are two different types of snakes. These are BALL Pythons.<br />
"So Boa Pythons?"<br />
<br />
"Do you have 'X species'?"<br />
My response: No, I only have Ball Pythons, I'm sorry. <br />
"Are you sure?"<br />
<br />
"Did you know your shirt says Shlong on it?"<br />
My response: It says Shlange, which is German for snake. <br />
<br />
"I'm worried that these snakes will eat my (insert large domestic critter that would destroy said snake here)"<br />
My response: I do not think that would be a problem. They are rather docile, and I'm almost certain your (animal) will be able to defend itself. Also, it wouldn't be an issue if your caging is appropriately locked up. <br />
<br />
"Are these snakes poisonous?"<br />
My response: No, even if you do eat them, you will be fine. I don't suggest it, however. They are also not venomous, which is what I am pretty sure you meant to ask. <br />
<br />
There were also times where I was impressed with the depth of knowledge from some of the people I talked to. It's rather hit or miss, and of course one must not judge a book by its cover. <br />
<br />
No matter what, the interactions with people is always what I enjoy the most about shows. It was a pleasure to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones. Customers from years past come thru and tell me about how their snakes are doing. Apparently there is a snake out there that I produced whose name is now "Pasta". I love it! <br />
<br />
<br />
What I find interesting about shows are the people who talk to each other about buying, while all right in front of me. In a different language. <br />
<br />
Here's the problem with that...<br />
<br />
I speak several languages, including Spanish. <br />
<br />
I've caught a lot of comments in languages I'm supposed to not understand that are rather unflattering, or just plain rude. Of course, this spans not just snake shows, but many other facets of life. <br />
<br />
I'm not exactly sure how people can justify that, but I guess that is something one must accept. <br />
<br />
And of course the fun part is answering in the language a question they were asking their partner or friend.. MWAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!<br />
<br />
<br />
Anyway, the next show we will be doing is going to be San Diego in November, which will be a first for me. I'm looking forward to it, and I hope to meet many new customers there. And throngs of people in Heather's Herps shirts. :)<br />
<br />
<br />
Have a great day, my friends. <br />
<br />
I know, it's still in California... but it takes us around 7 hours to get there, which in comparison, is like driving from Florida to South Carolina, or Delaware to Massachusetts. I'm traversing states here!<br />
<br />
And it can be said that Northern and Southern California are different states in their own right. They absolutely have different vibes... <br />
<br />
Anyway, I digress.<br />
</i><br />
I always enjoy going up north, as I was born and raised in San Francisco, and am a Northern Cali girl by heart. Hippy lovey dovey Greenpeace stuff I actually do enjoy. I like plants and walking thru the redwood forests, I enjoy the wineries and the various types of cold weather SF offers. Even though the Golden Gate Bridge has never been golden, I drive over it often with a sense of pride. <br />
<br />
Hella.<br />
<br />
And yes, it can be said that Sacramento is not quite as hippy-like as the San Fran crowd, but it is still Nor Cal, and I love it. <br />
<br />
The Oldtown Downtown is quaint, and it is just a pretty city, albeit very warm in the summer months. <br />
<br />
I'm just looking foward to getting out and about and meeting new people. <br />
<br />
I have been told that several people that have been past customers, and people I talk to thru e-mail or Facebook will be there. I am really looking forward to putting faces to names!<br />
<br />
Here we go, my friends. Have a great weekend. I know I will! Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12445475046128331168noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2930685593463457360.post-87113288217571255062013-09-23T08:46:00.001-07:002013-09-23T08:46:18.503-07:00RecoverySo this morning has been a little tough getting around. I'm tired, but doing well. It's a full work week, so trudging thru that will be a bunch of fun. <br />
<br />
BUT!!!!<br />
<br />
I got to meet a ton of cool people, lots of shirts were floating around the show, and I really had a great time talking to people I have known and past customers about their animals. <br />
<br />
The show, however, was sparsely attended. <br />
<br />
So, although it was not the best situation for selling snakes, it was a great time meeting and talking to folks. <br />
<br />
I am excited to say that we are also going up to Sacramento to see everyone for the Sacramento Reptile Show this next weekend. <br />
<br />
This will be the first time we have done back to back shows (that I recall), and although I am tired, I am looking forward to seeing the Nor Cal crew!<br />
<br />
Hopefully lots of them will be repping with the Heather's Herps T-shirt. <br />
<br />
So as I get settled and things, I wanted to shout out to everyone that stopped by to get a Shirt by mentioning the blog. I met a lot of nice new people, and I hope you like the shirts!!!<br />
<br />
Have a great week, you guys. <br />
<br />
Here we go!<br />
