In an attempt to be upbeat and not moping, I am happy to report that it is FRIDAY and that the weekend is almost here.
I have been feeling kinda down the past couple of days with my egg production down lower than expected, and still feeling the loss of my Cinnies Het Albino (one of my dream projects). Its really just superficial, I know, but... yeah. It still kinda sucks.
Nothing new really to report on the egg front, but I am also glad to say that the male part of my family (Brother and Father) is now back in the US safe and sound.
Hopefully I will get some pics to share with you and post here... I'll work on it.
This weekend should be fun. Heading down to San Diego to meet up with a friend of mine, and see some critters.
Pics? Lets hope so.

Late update before bed
So this morning was another late morning, but I did manage to get in there today and found one of my smaller girls curled up around 3 eggs and one slug. My Spider boy is for sure proven now!
Not too great, by any means, but good enough, I guess. I've been getting some small clutches lately, which is kinda depressing.

Another day... another something
So today before work, I decide to go into the snake room and check everyone, even though I did the complete clean last night.
What do I spy?
One of my girlies on eggs.
This time, to spare myself the trauma of being late to work and being frazzled, I left her to sit on them until I got home.
My first clutch of possible het Clowns is in there within those coils, and from the brief glance I got to make, there are 4 eggs.
4 eggs... not too bad, right?

Back to the Grind
So here we are... Tuesday after the long holiday. I am tired, but okay. We got back from a fun weekend with lots of good eats and friends. Took a couple of pics of SF, just for kicks, and I really remember each time I go, how much I love that city.
Its HOME
Nothing exciting to report as of today, other than I have a lot of cleaning to do tonight. YAY!
Hopefully this week will be exciting in a good way very soon.

Welcoming in the Long Weekend!!
So it's Friday. Friday before Memorial Day, which means a nice three day weekend to enjoy.
Joel, Regal and I are travelling up to San Francisco to visit with my mother tonight.
My father and my brother are in China right now living the life on the Silk Road (I am jealous). Hopefully if he can, my brother will be bringing me back some Snake Wine.
I am taking the camera up North with me, as this is my first time actually having a Blog that I USE, so I will have plenty of pictures to share and stories to tell. :)
I have Heather's Friend, Joe taking care of the animals when I am gone. Shouldn't be a big deal except for the new Cresties, but he took them with him home last night. Hopefully no catastrophic egg laying party, as my current incubator is pretty much full. (I'm setting up the new one when I get back)
Last night, I actually met one of my long time phone buddies, Tristan Egualada out of Santa Monica. We've been talking for at least a year over the phones, but finally met up last night, as I got a SWEET looking Spider Female from him. Isn't she gorgeous???
So keep a look out, and I will be posting lots of fun things soon!

Sad sad night...

Today was an interesting day....
So... This morning has started out rather interestingly.
I had finished cleaning the snake room last night in 90+ degree temps (92.1 degrees F at one point), gave water, and had basically lost 5 lbs of water weight cleaning up in the god forsaken heat at 8PM. I thought, wow.. Now that I have cleaned EVERYTHING.. watch something happen..
So I take a shower, and fall asleep..
7AM rolls along. 7AM??!?!?! My alarm didn't go off!!!
I rush to get ready for work and be there by 8AM..
I think.."Hey... I should probably check the gravids"
AND OF COURSE... 2 clutches were laid last night. That's 5 clutches down on the ground so far.
Not the best clutches in the world either..
Winda, one of my light females (in the photo) laid 3 eggs and one slug from my 07' Mojave male. Maybe he didn't get his job done right? I was kinda sad about it, but wasn't expecting that much out of him.
My last poss het Pied female of the year laid 5 eggs from my Pied.. Good ones, all candled well, but as I was removing her from the clutch, one of the eggs bounced out. That egg will be watched closely for any signs of badness.
Of course, as I was rushing out, I didn't palpate to see if there were any left.. I kinda hope there were, as the eggs were soft.
Got to work late, covered in vermiculite, but now get to sit down and reflect, and hope to see more when I get back to the room today.
Here's for hoping!!
---------------------------------------------------------
Update!!!
When I got home, there were MORE EGGS. I didn't get a chance to palpate, and I had a feeling they weren't done, so here is the count:
Winda x Mojave: 7 eggs, one slug
Poss het Pied x Pied: 7 eggs
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Updates for the week
So it's been crazy over here...
It was 100+ degrees in the area, so it was a fun time cooling everyone down this weekend.
Joel graduated on Thursday with his Masters in the Physicians Assistant program, so this weekend was all family. ALL weekend...
Not much time to do snake stuff other than to spot clean and feed.
We got in a couple of adorable red crested geckos care of a friend, and so keeping them cool this weekend has been a fun experiment.
Here are photos of Tapatio and Cholula:
Got a lot of uncomfortable looking BP females this weekend as well, so hopefully we will be getting more clutches on the ground soon.
With everything going on, I hope to be able to take some updated photos of the collection tonight (the only time I have had free in a couple of days), so please check back!!!

Photos of the Sable
So the Sable is finally ready for his debut.
His name is Cable the Sable, and I am really excited to be a part of this project.
There are so many awesome possibilities with Sables, and I have many plans for him in the next years.
He will be used in projects beginning in the 09' season, and hopefully we can produce some amazing things with this beautiful man. I am very excited to make a Super Sable, as those things are amazing!!!
Imagine a Super Sable Albino? We may see things like that in the next couple of years, and I am excited for it! This is one of those underrated morphs that will create amazing things in the future!

My new project is on the ground!!
So I have gotten my third clutch of the season, and something I've been dinking with. One of my 06' CH females that I call "Velvet" has laid 6 beautiful eggs this morning by way of either a Spider or a Pin. It is more likely the Spider, as I have seen locks with him versus the pin. With this in mind, I am calling the project the "Tarantula".
Here is an older photo of her.
Here she is locked with the Spider
I am really excited for this clutch, and really look forward to seeing what hatches out. Updates to come!!!

Welcome to the New Blog!!
So after a lot of changes and editing to the new setup of the updates section, I have decided to make it more user friendly for me, as I am not the most computer literate person on the planet by any means. A huge thank you to Kim for all of your help!!!
I apologise for the hiatus in updates as well, as it has been a while in trying to get the other system to work before I just decided to change it all together.
With that being said, I want to get back to what is going on here at Heather's Herps.
The Fridge incubator is FINISHED!! (Photos to be posted soon) I have yet to set it up, as I have a Big Apple Herp running for the first clutches.
WE HAVE EGGS!!!
I have gotten two clutches as of today, one from the Pied male to a Het Female with a beautiful 6 eggs, and a Black Pastel to a Normal clutch with a group of 4 large eggs. I am very excited that I finally have something on the ground at this point, and hopefully will have more to share in the next coming weeks.
We have also recently acquired an Enchi male, who is a great animal and I am very excited to put him to work with some ladies!!
Today, we are also expecting a Sable to come into the mix as well.
I am very happy with how things are going, and hope that all is well out in the world with you all as well.
Thank you very much for checking in, and more information and photos to come soon!!!
