Thing I've learned over the last few weeks?
The more stuff you have, the more stuff you have to clean.
And yes, I have been cleaning like crazy over the last few weeks. I promised myself I would make everything spic and span, and I haven't gotten there yet.
I am about 1/3rd of the way there.
That's a huge accomplishment for me doing this by myself, considering the 300+ animals I have.
Slow going, yes... but at least they are clean to my own exacting standards.
Plus, it doesn't help that I work full time and can only get to cleaning after I get home from work.
This isn't too bad though. I hit about a rack a day completely overhauling clean and switch out substrate, and spot clean the babies. Makes for a decent amount of work in a few hours.
And of course, Sani-chips get everywhere, so I of course have to break out the shop-vac every hour or so to make sure they don't fly everywhere.
Yes... It is a lot of work, but a passion of love. Once I am done, I will be so happy and relieved!!!
But, as it stands, I am not.
That's alright. I hope to complete it this weekend, although I'm going out of town on a business trip...
Back to the snake grind when I get back.
Which also means I will not be blogging tomorrow, as I will be away...
I'm sure that comes as no surprise, and that you are all used to me disappearing now and then.
Monday will come and I hope to report that I will be done and have fun pictures and hatching reports to share!
Have a great day and weekend, my friends!

So much to do, so little time...
I really really have a need to go into the snake room and do a MASSIVE clean.
Like sparkling clean, no dust anywhere, no snake scales anywhere, just somewhere you could, if you wanted to, eat off of.
Problem is, I don't have the time as of yet.
Maybe, if I get a day off and motivation to do so, I will get it done.
But, as we all well know, the more animals in one room, the more easily it goes towards dirty.
Of course, I have been asked "Why don't you hire someone to help you?"
Well, there are a few problems with that...
1) I have no ready funds to really support someone assisting me (and as I am somewhat of a cheapskate, I don't really want to have to...)
2) Who would I hire? It's a rough world out there, and I know there are plenty of good people out there, but it seems like there are more bad apples than good ones. Trust is an issue, my friends.
3) WHEN would I have them come over? I wouldn't want them working alone... And thus it would make it hard on me again to have someone help, that would need to fit into my schedule.
So, the moral of the story is....
Heather is just going to whine.
And get to cleaning slowly. As this weekend upcoming is a long weekend for most people, I hope to take it as a sign and actually get in there and vacuum and dust the hell out of that place. It's not the tubs themselves that are filthy... It's the racks. DUST EVERYWHERE. I can clean the tubs often enough, but to actually focus on the rack systems? That is something I don't do.
So I will.
BTW: Vision Rack Systems are hell to clean out for dust and particles.
Those will be the first ones I tackle.
So please send me nice cleaning happy thoughts this weekend as I partake in the cleaning rituals.
I'm going to need them.
Have a great day, my friends.

WOOHOO FOR THE WEEKEND!
I am tired.
It is Friday and I can't wait for the weekend.
I have, in the past couple of days, done my overhaul clean for most all of the animals in the snake room, which is an intense effort on my part, with only me doing it.
I changed out all the Sanichips, sanitized all of the water dishes and tubs with bleach, and have to get to a few more racks to clean before I feel like I am close to being done.
I do this often after a season, just to get things fresh.
And yes, I am not done.
I am still going thru, clearing out things, marking tubs for animals that are going to be up for sale in the next few months, and just trying to get things.... clear.
So, with that being said, this weekend will be cleaning and clearing out and sitting down and outlining the next season already.
Maybe we will all have a brain storm session on what I should pair up next season? Maybe what I need to acquire to complete projects?
Lets think about it over the weekend, what do you think?
I have a few things to show you next week for sure, but now, lets just enjoy the day and our upcoming weekend, yes?
Have a fantastic wonderful weekend, and let us return refreshed and fresh.

Responsibilities
I'm going to be honest here.
There are days when I just don't want to deal.
Yesterday was hot and I was tired from work, and just beat.
It was like 5000000 degrees in the house, and in the snake room, 5000000 x 2.
Now I realize I am being overly dramatic, but I want to make a point.
I went in there, and I spent 3 hours cleaning and watering everyone.
It was not fun.
It was not enjoyable.
I almost got bit several times.
I was sweating like crazy. 5000000 degrees is not a pleasant experience.
But I did it.
The snakes can't do it themselves, and I don't have much help. It's just me and them.
And I, and you, can never forget that.
I'm sure your own snakes have you and only you as well.
Responsibilities.
Sometimes its rough, but its something we as pet owners have to deal with.
So basically, I did it, but I didn't get any motivation to write anything interesting other than to remind you and myself that you gotta do what you gotta do.
So there you go.
Hopefully tomorrow I will have something more interesting to share. And it won't be 5000000 degrees.
Cutting eggs, maybe.
Yeah, that sounds good.
Have a fantastic day, my friends.
