Clutches and Boo...

So I've been taking more of a hiatus, since I am counting down to the wedding and it's getting ridiculously close. There will probably be many more hiatuses in the next few weeks, but in June, I'll be back, BABAY!

I went into the snake room to feed and clean on Friday night, and found several clutches.

Here is the first one. This female is a first time breeder for me, and the first Hypo I have had lay eggs!

Yes, I've been behind in my Ghost-ness, and I still am.

But this female was bred to the Enchi Butter het Hypo, so I'm really hoping to jump into Hypo awesomeness with this clutch.

Should be good, although she did give me a slug. Sadness... 

This sight was exciting, although I am pretty sad about the egg count. She was a big girl, around 2500 grams before she laid..

She gave me four good eggs and a slug.

Oh well.

Better luck next time, eh?

But she was bred to Mystery males, so this clutch of four will answer several issues, including what exactly she is! Should be a fun one.. 

And on Sunday, I caught this girl on eggs. I didn't even expect her to go, and of course, with that in mind, I took her off her clutch. 

ONE EGG.  FOUR SLUGS

Ouch.

Again, oh well.

First time breeder, first time laying eggs for me. 

This is a boo-boo clutch, but hopefully something awesome will pop out of the one legit egg.

All in all, not too shabby, but still could be better. Slugs galore, so far. This is kinda painful.

Fun with Hypos

Well, I think I have mentioned that I got into the Hypo project a bit late. I do not have a lot of Hypo things that are breedable as of yet, but I am working on it.

I have, however, gotten a hold of a few Het Hypo things that I am working into the projects, and that is better than nothing.

Take the photo above. That, my friends, is my Butter Enchi het Hypo male with my Hypo female. This excites me very much, since again, I need to bulk up my Hypo projects. These babies should be amazing, and I can't wait to see them (if they come to fruition) out of the egg.

What other Hypo stuff do I have hiding up my sleeve?

Well, I am growing up some Hypo combo females that I can't wait to use.

I have a Pastel het Hypo female I'm not sure what I am going to do with this season. Maybe put her in with this Butter Enchi? That more than likely will be where I will go with it, but I also have the Black Pewter het Hypo male I produced in 2010 making the rounds as well.

Now what would be really cool is some AMAZING male that is also Hypo, so that I can plug him into a bunch of stuff and make even more amazing things.

...Sigh...

Isn't that always the dream?

To have some amazing male that will blow everything out of the water??

Almost done!

This is one of the last females to lay for 2011, and I have to say, I'm glad to see it! She was one of those females I wasn't sure was going to go at all, until I saw her ovulate several months after everyone else.

I have one or two more females that are going to lay, and that should be it for this season. Basically... This season is going to end during the beginning of the next one. WHEW!

It hasn't been like that for me in a long time, if at all. I am surprised at this, but honestly.. I'm not really concerned. As long as these gals are ready and healthy and give me eggs when they are ready, who am I to complain, eh?

Anyway, this girl was mainly bred to the Enchi, so I am expecting Pastel Enchis in the next few months. She was bred to the Sterling waaaayyy early in the season, but considering he was not involved for at least 4-5 months before the eggs, I can't imagine him being the father. But... here we are, waiting to find out.

She gave me eight beautiful little eggs, so I can't wait to see some good stuff from this clutch. Also, the last few clutches did hatch, and there are some fun things to share!

This clutch hatched out on Saturday, early, of course. This was the Pastel Super Mojave to Genetic Stripe clutch. One egg went bad, and the end count was:

1.0 Pastel Mojave het Genetic Stripe, 1.2 Mojave het Genetic Stripe

I will take it! I am really excited to make some Pastel Mojave Stripes!

This girl came out of the Caramel to Hypo clutch, the only one... The other eggs went bad. But look! She is a Hypo!!! I have no idea why, and the Caramel male was not traced back to being a het, but this is a Hypo.. I don't know what's going on.

She may be a Hypo Het Caramel, but it'll be a few years before we find out. HOORAY for fun Het stuff!

And the next clutch due to hatch is my most exciting clutch of the season. In a few days, we get to find out who was the father of the Special female clutch. Four eggs are still viable, and I can't wait to see what is going to pop out...

Clutch 38

Again, this was a clutch I wasn't expecting, from a female I didn't think was going to go. I bred this female to the Caramel male to make double hets. Hopefully these eggs go to term and we get some Double hets... but I don't expect it, unfortunately.

The one slug is a absolute slug, and the yellower egg on the right top is not viable either... So it looks like two eggs should go to term if all goes well.

Wasn't expecting this, not unhappy per say, but wish it would have been better. Now is the time to beef her up for next season.

The Black Pewter Fire is a spitfire! She was not interested in getting photographed, so this was the best photo I could get.

So again, I tried to catch a few locks, but only found one while the camera was on. 

Back to the basics. Albino to Het Albino. 

Hopefully this weekend I can catch a few more. I have palpated a few, and I have to say that I am really pleased at the progress of the first few females. We should see at least ovulations in droves in the next weeks.

Hypo Magic

I think I've said this before, but Hypo (aka Ghost) genetics are magic... I cannot think of any morph that Hypo doesn't make better. 

~Side note: Hypo = Ghost~

I can say that of a few morphs... Pastel does not fit with a few morphs (the darker ones), Spiders do not combine well with everything (Spider Pieds?), etc..

But Hypos? Ghosts? BOO-YAH, baby! I love it!

Above we have the Hypo Mojave, one of my favorite base Hypo combinations. 

Below, the Honeybee.. Hypo Spider. Oh yeah, baby! Love these too. Buttery golden goodness..

And of course, the popular Pastel Hypo. Can't have too many of these guys hanging around.

This gal below isn't quite a Hypo, but this was my miss this year on the Humblebee, the Bumblebee Hypo. But if you imagine and smash together the Pastel and Spider Hypos, you can imagine what it would look like!

Het Hypos are all the rage too! This is a group that I have here. Black Pewter het Hypo male that I hope to be a father soon enough. I can't wait to see these in Hypo flavor! 

And the Black Pastel het Hypo as well. I love these, as you well know I love Black Pastels. I can't wait to make some babies! 

So Hypo forever, my friends. Even if you don't love them, you have to have at least something to work into it. 

It's a recessive trait, so if you have a goal, just add some Hypo to it from the beginning! 

You won't regret it!!!

Hey Boys!

 I went a bit overboard with what I was planning to do last night.  I had originally intended to check on the girls... but what I ended up doing was playing with my boys.

It helped, in a way, cause I know what males I can use this season in the mix. Let me introduce you to a few of them today.

This guy is Mobee. The Mojave Spider. I am really excited about using this guy, since he is a newer addition, and I have GREAT plans for him. At least a few Pastels and maybe my Pinstripe? I'm not sure.

This guy is also a newer addition to the group, and I only have one female that I know for sure he is going to. This guy is my Hypo possible het Pied. And who is his girlfriend? 

Well, my Pied possible het Hypo.

Can't wait to see them both prove out!

And Carmine, a resident male here. He is going to be making more Caramels, and hopefully some females this year... And some double het Caramel Glows!

My not so amazing Lemonblast male... He is a great breeder, but not too much to look at compared to some other Lemonblasts I have. I am not quite sure what I'm going to do with him this season... He has great potential, I'm just not sure what. Maybe a Mojave or two? And a Pastel? Yeah, I'm not sure.

This guy right here is my stud Pied male. He has been with me forever. He will be with a few leftover possible hets that I have sitting around, and I'm not sure what else I want to put in with him. I love love love some Black Pastel Pieds, so maybe that will be a good place to start. The great thing about Pieds is that anything combined with them is usually pretty awesome!

So of course, there are a few more boys to be introduced, but right now, these guys should be enough stud-muffin eye candy...
