Thank God Its Friday (TGIF!)

This week has been one of those where each day I get subsequentially more tired each day.

I'm looking forward to the weekend more than usual, cause not only do I need to have some breathing time, I and the Joel get to take the Fuzz to the Snow tommorow!

I am really excited about it, actually. Last year we went, but my camera didn't have the memory card, so it was for NOTHING photowise. This year, it will NOT happen. There will be happy frolicking Fuzzbutt pictures.

Anyway, in my disabled state with my finger, I have to wear gloves to do EVERYTHING. Its kinda annoying.

I was somewhat cleaning with my single glove on, and had no problem snapping a couple of photos of some good looking stuff while I was.

My Pewter (again). She's so hot. Really. I'm in love.

And, my friend Lewie took home the LAST PASTEL OF THE YEAR. He is now the proud owner of Boo-Ah. Or was it ABooo? Anyway, the snake has a legible A and B OOOO down his side, so I thought it was pretty cool, and pointed it out. Now that is his name :)

Good luck making more Pastels next year, Lew.

Until next week, friends!

Meet my Nemesis

Yesterday, I was felled by my nemesis, the Plum.

How, you ask??

Well, I have braces. I cannot eat stone fruit without cutting it up.

I cut a plum in half, but didn't have a cutting board out. No problem, cutting in half. But to take out the pit?? Lets just hold the plum in my hand and try to cut out the pit with a very sharp knife.

You know when your mother told you to use a cutting board? Yeah... Its a good idea.

So now my pointer finger is cut. Deeply. (Not really me in the photo, but for dramatic effect...)

Thank goodness for the Joel working as a Physicians Assistant.

He took care of my finger, and although it still hurts like a mofo, I am pleased that it is clean and dry.

So what, pray tell, are you to take from this story?

BEWARE THE PLUM.

Anyway, back to our regular scheduled program...

The boys were moved around yesterday, and they were trying! Lots of trying!

Also, I'm seeing some good glows. This female in with the Axanthic is absolutely glowing.. We shall see what happens with her.

Hopefully some eggs or something soon. It's getting me anxious.

Things that make you go.."Hmmmmm"

Well, here are a few things that make you think.

If you recall, I told you that the POG was not interested in the ladies, nor was he producing sperm.

Well... As of last week, he still wasn't producing sperm. But I put him in with some females that needed a jump start in their feeding response (refer back to last week).

And look what he is trying to do...

Now, I am not concerned about him and the ladies. I really don't think anything is going to happen, to be honest. But now I know he is at least interested and trying, but doesn't like the Big Mommas. Just the little ones :) Good to know!

Now, I got a lot of comments over the years over this female Yellowbelly.

Does she look like one to you?

With the arbitrary "Is this a Yellowbelly" question, I always pull this one out. I think this female is a tough one, very close to on the line YB that puts most people shame when they say NO.

Because she came from a trusted source, I am going to breed her out to a YB and hope for the best, because to be quite honest, when I got her, I even doubted her YB-llyness.

So, let us try it out next season. It will be fun!

Pinny goodness

Because my Pinner male is gay, I broke down and got me a female so that I wouldn't be too dissapointed if he didn't throw any babies this season. At least I already have my girl!

Isn't she sweeeeeet?

Almost a solid stripe, something I've been looking for in the Pins for a while. Also, a pretty reduced pattern, so... I'm pleased!

Tommorow will be moving males around day. I'll see if I can snap some photos too of something more interesting than the standard pics I always put up :)

And in cleaning this past weekend, I got a solid shed, and took some pictures for people to see. On the left is the top of the snake, and the right is the belly of the snake. The scalation is very interesting, and I just thought that the picture would give some people a better idea of shedding.

And more photos from the weekend, here is my Dawg looking like the spawn of satan.

Gotta love the Tapetum Lucida.

And for the record, he had his shirt on cause there was company over. He can't walk around naked with people over now, can he?

Fun Fun Fun!!!

This weekend was a bunch of fun.

Saturday was Snake-People-get-together day at Heather's House.

Pattycakes and Lydia from Cali Coils stopped by to hang out with Lewie, Jasmine, Joe, the Joel and I.

It was good times. We had some fun, shared some laughs, Rock Band, and all in all rocked the night away!

Saturday was a great day, and I had a blast hanging out and talking snakes again.

(Photo was not taken at Heather's House, just an FYI...)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sunday I went over to my friend T's house to pick up my LAST purchase of the season.
I am stoked to have a new critter, and although I didn't upload pics, there will be a day this week dedicated to her awesomeness.
So, since I don't have any new awesomeness, I'd like to share some old awesomeness!
I took some pics of some of my random animals, and here is what I liked today to share.
This is one of my Normals. She's Hot. Not sure what's up with her, but she has great color and pattern, and I can't wait to see what she throws!
And my friend, my one and only Ghost. Had to toss this pic up here cause I managed to get a tongue shot. YEAH BOYEE!!! Love her... Looking forward to working with her next season for sure....
Anyway, I am recovering from the weekend, and I promise to have cool stuff to share soon... Maybe more weekend pics? We shall see.
Get thru your Monday's, my friends :)
They're just hugging
Its Friday, and I am very glad for the weekend. It's been one of those weeks where every day of the week I get more tired.
I need some rest.
BUT! Tommorow is a busy busy day. Lots of things happening, people coming over, fun times and such, so I may not be able to recover until Sunday.
We shall see.
With that being said, we have some hugs this week that I finally uploaded.
Pewter to Normal. This baby boy is a STUD. Tiny little man with an appetite for sex.
Enchi and Normal. Another Studmuffin. No doubts about him...
And my Sable is finally getting into the swing of things. He has found some girls he likes, and is sticking to them. Hey, whatever, as long as I get a few more sables out of it.
Gotta love hugging. Makes people feel good.
Go out and hug someone today. It's Friday.
Tricks of the Trade
Yesterday was cleaning overhaul, and Lewie was over to help clean with me again.
AND!!!!
I didn't get bit :)
But here is what I did do.
I palpated one of my Albino females. She was NOT happy about it, and because she wasn't, I didn't get a good count.
Lew got a good picture of a Het Albino female getting bred to an Albino, while she was watching him take the pic. I thought this was really cute. ("What do you want.. Stop bugging us!")
And although the colors are off, this photo was taken to give some of you an idea as to breedings and the benefits of pairings.
Both of these females are from the same clutch, same family, same age, etc...
They both stopped eating this season due to the "1000 gram/ two year old hunger strike".
The one on the left was paired up with the Albino.
The one on the right was not paired at all.
The one on the left has begun eating again with no signs of stopping.
The one on the right has still not started.
Why is this important?
Well, sometimes (and I stress SOMETIMES) the females after being in the presence of a male, will start CHOWING DOWN like crazy. If you are concerned about a females weight, it is a trick to try. I don't suggest doing it if the female is 300 grams, nor do I suggest it if you don't want accidental clutches when you aren't looking.
But it is a trick of the trade, and I wanted to share with you.
What a Beautiful Hump Day
Tis Hump day, friends, and today it has stopped raining. The sun is shining, and although we still have three full work days left (including today), it seems like things are looking up!
This is just a generalization, but I know that it is much better to assume the best than the worst. Just easier on your psyche.
Yesterday I really didn't do much with the snakes other than check them out and clean them up.
But, I have been musing about snakes, and here is what I came up with...
I have also come to the conclusion that I need to refocus my attentions this season onto what I need to restructure the collection.
I know I am not the biggest player in the game, and I admire people who can make all the things I strive for honorably and with dignity.
Do I wish I could be bigger? Sometimes, yes... More of the time, no.
I am good where I am at, and although I would like to "upgrade" my collection, I think where I am at is good for where I am at in life.
With everything happening out there in the world, I understand that most people don't put snakes at the top of the priority list.
Family, food, friends, housing, money all are important for a persons survival.
Are snakes? Not so much, but to me it feels like it.
It gives me joy.
Joy should be what you strive for in life.
Be it in snakes or in other things.
Now where am I going with this?
It is a beautiful day, the sun is shining, my snakes are breeding, and I am pleased.
Will things change?
Well, I'd hope so. Life is change.
Peace.
And You, and You, and You, you're gunna love meeeee!
So yesterday, I came home and watched a movie. It's been a while since I have had the time to do it, and HBO was playing Dreamgirls. I hadn't seen it when it came out, so I wanted to finally watch it.
I LOVED IT!!!
Jennifer Hudson is very talented, and blew Beyonce out of the water, without a doubt.
I was really glad to have been able to see it. I am now a fan of Jennifer Hudson.
I am a musical fan. I love to sing, and have been told I'm actually good at it. I had been told that I should try out for American Idol, but I never really thought it would get me anywhere if I didn't win. She did pretty well for not winning, eh?
Anyway, I digress. Snake stuff now :)
Pee-Oh-Gee next to a Pastel. I actually had them in together to see if it would spurn her eating reflex, and I saw him trying to lock with her!!! This little bugger is actually working his mojo, and he doesn't even have plugs! I may put him with his planned mates and see if anything happens.
Magical Mojos from last season. Same fathers, different mothers. Interesting differences in color, eh? I love it.
And a hideous photo of my Albino that makes her look like a monster. I need to perfect my Albino photo taking skills.
Anyway, its raining, the males are working, and its Tuesday. Let us hope that this week goes by relatively quickly. I have a weekend urge already...
Karaoke and Rockband... WOOT!
Smörje
So this weekend went by too fast.
Friday night came and went..
Saturday was cleaning day again. I was prepping for rain this weekend, and it never came! I paired up some males, but like before, the males are just getting sluggish. I more than likely missed some ovs while at work. Hopefully soon I will have some eggs on the ground and not be as paranoid about missing pairings.
Anyway, current pairings are:
G-stripe to poss het
Albino to het
Axanthic to Albino
Caramel to poss het
Mojave to Normal
Pinstripe to Normal
Pastel to Normal
Enchi to Normal
Pewter to Cinnamon
Black Pastel to Normal
Sable to Normal
Hopefully someone gets excited in the current weather system. It's POURING, and will be for the rest of the week as I understand it.
Saturday was also Valentines day and my Fuzzbutts birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY REGAL!!
Sunday came, and the Smoj came out. She got us some Smörjes, and I am very pleased. Thank you Smoj! We had a great time hanging out before the rains came.
And in honor of Smoj coming out, here is a picture that Lewie took of one of my legged creatures. YAY Crestie!
Anyway, rain is here, I am here.. It's Monday. Get thru it people. Congrats to the people who don't have to work today. I'm rather envious.
Have a great one!
Freaky Friday!!!
It's Friday the 13th, my friends..
And already, bad news is happening..
A plane crashed into a house in Buffalo, New York
I have to say that Friday the 13th has always been an odd day for me.
I've lost my grandfather on this day, about 10 years ago.
I've always been somewhat apprehensive about this day, not because I am superstitious, but rather that I have been the brunt of odd news on this day for several years. It doesn't happen every year, but enough that it seems to be a trend. Or maybe I'm just building it up too much? More than likely...
Anyway, I am not expecting anything to happen. It's just Friday, and that is enough to be happy about!
And even though its Freaky Friday, there is nothing "freaky" happening in my snake room.
I didn't pair up yet. Maybe tonight. I've been giving the boys some extra time to settle. Getting freaky tonight? I hope so. It's raining again today anyway, so there should be a good chance of something happening.
Happy Single Awareness Day, by the way. Tomorrow is Valentines day and is also my dog's "birthday", so he will get steak and extra luv. YAY!
That is what I do for Valentines day... I don't like the whole romantic day only on V-day. Shouldn't romantic days be random and frequent?? Not commercialized and expected.
But I should pair up snakes tomorrow in honor of the day.. Wouldn't want them to get lonely...
Anyway, have a great weekend, may you get all the romance you wish for, not pay too much for cut flowers, and eat much chocolate and candy.
Love each other well! (EVERY DAY!)
Arachnophobia
I have Arachnophobia.
BAD.
When I was a kid, I couldn't even kill a spider. One day, I tried, and I squished it with a tissue... A big black and brown one. Do you know what it did? It SCREAMED!!!
Since then, I have always been freaked out about killing spiders, although I can do it.
I actually have a jumping spider that lives in my office desk somewhere that I see occasionally.
I'm trying to get over my fear, be it irrational or not. I've been pretty scarred by spiders in my life..
I also remember a time when I was asleep in my mothers car when I was a kid, and she was driving. I felt something crawling on me.. I woke up to brush it off, and it was a HUGE jumping spider that jumped away when I screamed in terror. My mom almost crashed the car... Yeah, I remember...
And Joel wants a Tarantula.
Eeeeeeeewwww..
But I have to say, I'm not too afraid of these spiders. They are actually really cool in my opinion! I can touch them without shivering in fear, so I think we're getting somewhere :)
This is the hot light spider female with a couple others that I have in hiding.. They are sexy beasts, and gives you an idea of the variations in shading that are available as well as the patterns.
Someone asked me recently, "Why do they call them Spiders?" From what I understand, NERD had called them that due to the patterning on the back that looks like a Spider Web.
I think its a pretty appropriate name.
And here is the combo photo.
How do you make a Bumblebee??
Spider + Pastel = Bumblebee
It's that simple. Isn't it weird how different they look???
Awesome stuff man...
Have a great day!!!
Buddha Belly
So I took pics!
YAY ME!!!
I did another round of comparison photos, and I think that these will be fun!
I took a picture of my some of my bellies. I have more than one Belly? Why, yes, in this case... I am actually tempted to name one of them Buddha... Maybe I will!!
Rub the Buddha Belly
HAH!! I crack myself up sometimes, I swear...
Anyway, here is a photo of a combination of animals. The one on the top left is a standard Yellowbelly. Can you tell?
The one on the bottom is a Pastel. Can you tell?
AND... the one on the top right is a Pastel Yellowbelly. See where I was going with it??
And of course, the obligatory belly shots of all of them for comparison.
I'm hoping that these photos help someone identify Yellowbellies, cause they are kinda tough sometimes. The Pastel Yellowbelly is actually not the most "belly", but it is one for sure.
Anyway, in uploading my photos last night, I found that I had taken a breeding pic last week that should have helped with the flow and blab about breeding, but I didn't upload it. So here we are... three days too late since the actual photo was taken, but we can still bask in the glory of the snake sex, yes?
Pewter to Pastel. Pewter was in shed... He looks like... Bleh. Oh well.
Anyway, I got my photos up, and albeit I am still a bit tired, I am going to face the hump day with as much courage and strength as I can muster. BRING IT ON!!!
Meh.
Last night I tried feeding the boys that are on a break. Now, they are already lean from working up a supposed snakey sweat from working on thier studly moves...
And now they won't eat.
I have to say, this is a common occurance, but I am trying to get rid of my rats, so I am not as happy as I would like to be without having rodentia in my house.
Oh well.
Not a big deal, but this morning before work, I went and pulled some rats from the non-eaters tubs.
There were more than I wanted to be around.
......
Meh.
Anyway, I know I was on a roll with photos these past couple of weeks, but last night I was tired, and didn't get around to taking any photos. Sorry people.
This is one of those weeks where I am just kinda BLEH.
And it seems like same goes for the snakes!
No one is doing anything exciting, and even the boys are kinda slowing down. Although some of them are in shed.... Maybe its all in my head.
Anyway, with the males all in tubs resting, and me being so incoherant, I'm not sure what else I can add that won't sound ridiculous today.
Hopefully tonight I will have something to show for something. Maybe a story? Maybe a something!!
Stormy weather....
This weekend was fun, if not very wet!!!
Friday night was cleaning again.. I got a new Herpstat Pro finally, so everyone is much more... organized in heat.
In cleaning, photos were taken. Joe took some photos of Chipo close up.
I also, in my infinite wisdom, managed to get bit for the first time this year. It was a doozy!!! It's been a while too...
We had another meetup with some friends on Saturday, this time with Raul and Laurie of West Coast Jungle.
I got a rocking setup for some new animal that I haven't decided on, and we had a great dinner and kick back for a few hours.
I love Snake people days :)
It was Spider time, as Raul brought a couple of his spiders over for us to look at. So in that line of thought, I took a pic of one of my hot spider females. She is crazy light, and I really like her for her coloration. Maybe plug her into a Pastel or something?? Not sure, but I have some time to decide.
Anyway, other than the constant rain, the boys are all taking breaks, the snake room is clean (for now), and I am back to the grind.
Things are going... and its a Monday. What more can you ask for??
It's Raining Cats and Dogs!
You know, I never really understood that turn of phrase...
Has it ever rained REAL cats or dogs before??
I have never seen it...
I know it has rained fish before..... Wierd.
Anyway, it's pouring down rain today, and I am loving it, kinda.
Yesterday, our trash cans got washed away by a deluge that came thru the neighborhood streets.
We had to walk a block down the street in pouring rain last night to get them. My sweatshirt is STILL soaked as we speak.
Anyway, with the rain being here, it is a good time to move the males around and have them work their magic.
They don't really seem to mind...
Anyway, more random photos of random animals. This is one of my holdback Mojave females I hatched out this past season. She is HAWT!!!! I really really like how she turned out. And since I have a dedicated project to Mojaves, I am so glad I have her too! Can't wait to see her grown up.
And in honor of this grey day, and how much people love her, I have posted up a picture of my favorite TSK Axanthic female. She's a hottie!!
Have a great weekend, friends :) Stay dry!!!
CAUSE I CAN, SUCKA!!!!
Yesterday was serious cleaning day, and I did it caffeinated. Why?? Cause I love my Keurig Coffee Maker.
Got home, made a cup, and had enough caffeine energy to clean that room twice!!!
Joe was of course asking me why I was drinking coffee at night.. CAUSE I CAN, SUCKA!!!
Yes, so cleaning is done, and within two minutes of finishing, one of the spiders decided to trash her tub. YEAH!!! Ungrateful bastards..
But she was so pretty in this photo...
Speaking of spiders, this is a Normal female that I just LOVE for her pattern. I planned on using her this year, but since she is a mouse eater and is rather picky, I opted out. She is older too, I believe close to 5 years old now?? Anyway, I think she will be in rotations next season. She'll throw some hot patterned animals.
And my new Pastels poss het Axanthic actually were shedding together!!! So when one was done, I took a photo to compare the colorations between shedding and non shedding pastels. Isn't it severe??? I LOVE how cool that is.. Ecdysis, man. LOVE IT.
Anyway, enjoy your day, love love and all that jazz.
