Clutch 38

Again, this was a clutch I wasn't expecting, from a female I didn't think was going to go. I bred this female to the Caramel male to make double hets. Hopefully these eggs go to term and we get some Double hets... but I don't expect it, unfortunately.

The one slug is a absolute slug, and the yellower egg on the right top is not viable either... So it looks like two eggs should go to term if all goes well.

Wasn't expecting this, not unhappy per say, but wish it would have been better. Now is the time to beef her up for next season.

And of course, random photo time.

The Black Pewter Fire is a spitfire! She was not interested in getting photographed, so this was the best photo I could get.

Have a great day, my friends!

Clutch 33

HAPPY NEW MONTH! (Rabbit Rabbit)

Well, this weekend was actually a clutch weekend (much to my surprise), so I will touch on all of your suggestions thru out the rest of the week!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE SUGGESTIONS!!!

This is clutch 33, and this is my largest proven het Caramel female. I have been creating a bunch of Caramels, and this gal laid 8 great eggs hopefully with many quality Caramels inside.

A few of the eggs didn't have much veining, so I am crossing my fingers that all eight are viable. They looked good and healthy, however, so we shall see!

The clutch laying is slowing down significantly, and this season looks to be a bunch of clutches now and a few stragglers in the next month. So of course, that is part of the reason why I asked for suggestions for the blog. I got a few golden ones!!! Thanks again, people, for helping this blog and being interactive!

I went out this weekend with the girls, did some stuff, saw some things, but had the camera when we were walking thru a very pretty area. So here are some random photos of a Koi pond that we walked thru. I hope you enjoy them.

Sometimes, simple things are the best things.

Koi are a fascinating breed of fish as well. SO MANY COLORS!

Ball Pythons and Koi... awesome variety of colors.

I'd love to have a Koi pond.

Anyway, have a great day, my friends!

Clutches 23, 24 and the WORST MOTHER EVER

YAY FOR MORE EGGS!
This gal is a Het Hypo I picked up last year from a friend, and had a hard time getting her to eat. Luckily for me, she is a older female, and didn't have too bad of a time breeding.

Het Hypo of course was bred to my Pee-Oh-Gee, so this clutch should be a bunch more fantastic POGs.

Seven eggs! Not too shabby!

But then I went thru and checked a few other females, and look what I saw when I opened up the tub?

Worst mother EVER.

Wasn't even coiled around them. She was a first time breeder, so I can't give her too much grief, but at least keep them SAFE! Oh well...

Three good eggs and two slugs to help prove her out. I hope she is a Het Caramel, but we will see.

So after that shock, I went thru the babies. You know how much I love silly sheddings, so I caught the Pewterbee looking ridiculously cute with his shed, and I had to take a picture.

Awwwwwww....

How cute is he?

Anyway, we are at almost full capacity in the main incubators again, so I may have to go set up the extra one soon. We will see.

Have a great day, my friends!

Photo fun time!

Photo fun time, because I'm not sure what to touch on today.

Here are a few pictures I have taken over this week.
This is my holdback Pastel Het Red Axanthic. I really like the pattern on these guys, and although they darken up the Pastel with the Het Red characteristics, I really think this combination is pretty awesome in its own less impressive way.

The yellows turn a nice deep gold, darker than the bright lemons that you would see typically in Pastels.

Speaking of bright yellows, this is my Pastel Mojave, with lots of bright yellows and side blushing. I also love the pattern typical to Mojaves, the floating circles and weird alien heads... and those curly-cues on the spine? Yeah, this one is a hottie.

And again, bright yellows.. but this time, deep oranges and purple tinges. Caramels are absolutely GORGEOUS, and I love this one too.  They only get better with age as well, so this guy is going to be stunning. They also have red pupils, which is super cool.

And one of my Axanthics, those in which I am very proud. Axanthics are very hard to get correct colors in photos, and this one I didn't get perfect, but it is close enough, I suppose.

And this one is my Pastel Orange Ghost, and I love this morph! So much to be done with it, and so cool looking to boot! Hypos are awesome, and I have finally gotten a decent group of them together. I'm pretty happy with that, but to have them all ready to breed would be fantastic.
Until then, I can plan and play around like I do every year.

And of course, I'm sure you do too with your own collections.

Have a fantastic weekend, my friends!!!

Hey Boys!

I went a bit overboard with what I was planning to do last night.  I had originally intended to check on the girls... but what I ended up doing was playing with my boys.

It helped, in a way, cause I know what males I can use this season in the mix. Let me introduce you to a few of them today.

This guy is Mobee. The Mojave Spider. I am really excited about using this guy, since he is a newer addition, and I have GREAT plans for him. At least a few Pastels and maybe my Pinstripe? I'm not sure.

This guy is also a newer addition to the group, and I only have one female that I know for sure he is going to. This guy is my Hypo possible het Pied. And who is his girlfriend?
Well, my Pied possible het Hypo.
Can't wait to see them both prove out!

And Carmine, a resident male here. He is going to be making more Caramels, and hopefully some females this year... And some double het Caramel Glows!

My not so amazing Lemonblast male... He is a great breeder, but not too much to look at compared to some other Lemonblasts I have. I am not quite sure what I'm going to do with him this season... He has great potential, I'm just not sure what. Maybe a Mojave or two? And a Pastel? Yeah, I'm not sure.

This guy right here is my stud Pied male. He has been with me forever. He will be with a few leftover possible hets that I have sitting around, and I'm not sure what else I want to put in with him. I love love love some Black Pastel Pieds, so maybe that will be a good place to start. The great thing about Pieds is that anything combined with them is usually pretty awesome!

So of course, there are a few more boys to be introduced, but right now, these guys should be enough stud-muffin eye candy...

Have a great day, my friends!

White Snake

Well, over this past weekend, I hatched out a few things, including our Caramels that I will reintroduce.

There were three in the last clutch, one that died in the egg, and one that had a neck kink. Here are the other two that are almost perfect, one being from the original clutch.

Here they are. Both boys, both gorgeous, and both doing great!

One thing I love about Caramel Albinos is the red pupils.. I tried to capture that on the photos, but I was not very good at it.

This guys is my favorite. He has great color, and floaty alien heads! Love it.

This is the other, and he is doing fine as well. Don't you just love the colors??

One of these guys has the minor tail kink, and the other is perfect as far as I can tell. I plan on feeding them up and evaluating the spinal issues to see if anything pops up or goes away. Yes, spinal kinks can go away, and I will try and keep you all updated as to any progress that I see.

This is the only Mojave that I have hatched out so far. Welcome to the fold, Pastel Super Mojave...

Thank goodness she is a she.

I don't know what happened, but the clutch went bad. Three eggs, this little gem and two normals. I have NO idea what could have happened, other than I used the Pastel Lesser to back up the Pastel Super Mojave.

But this gal is for sure a Super Mojave, and almost positive she is a Pastel. Why, do you ask, do you know for sure, Heather?

Well, the head color, as well as the yellow stripe down the spine that is broken up.

It will be easier to show off when this gal sheds, so we will revisit this soon.

And even though this clutch was laid ONE DAY after the Mojave clutch, which hatched out last week, this guy decided to pip today. And the other two eggs have no interest in pipping...

Odd...

But more babies to come soon! The poss het mother of this Genetic Stripe clutch did not prove out, so these are all 100% het Genetic Stripes.

Have a fantastic day, my friends.

Weekend Update with Heather Wong

So things did hatch, and things are being addressed, and it was a good weekend overall!

Every weekend, I wish that it was longer.

I really think I need a vacation, is the bottom line here...

But there is no rest for the wicked.

So here we go, my friends.

The Caramel clutch hatched, and we have one out of four.

He's a boy, of course. But he is almost perfect! No kinks anywhere but at the very very tip of his tail.

I like him!

The other hets are all girls! THIS is the type of clutch I like!

And of course, the other clutch hatched as well.

Three eggs, one Pied, ALL GIRLS.

I love it.

That pied is awesome too, I really like her.

And with that, the rest of the clutches are in the incubators. I turned off one, but two others are still going strong.

I use Big Apple Herp incubators, and here you have a picture of my setup.

I use proportional thermostats to run them, 6qt tubs with vermiculite and Press and Seal on the top, and lots of love.

They are on top of each other to save space, so yes, this is two incubators. They each hold 12 6qt tubs.

Questions? Feel free to ask!

So as of right now, the Pastel het Genetic Stripes are hatching out, as well as a Mystery clutch and the Cinnamon het Pieds. Lots of interesting things, but nothing to really speak of other than they are cutting the eggs.

We will know in a few more days what the situation is.

So until then, I will field any questions, get some things done, and hope that you all have a fantastic day, my friends!

Count down to the NARBC Anahiem.. 13 days. WOOHOO!!!

Oldies but Goodies, and Newbies

It's FRIDAY!

I am glad for the weekend, as I am almost caught up on everything, although I need to get a few more things finished before I can say that I can relax and take new pictures and sit in the snake room, sipping a cocktail. That rarely happens, but it happens.

Anyway,  I was going thru the holdback rack, and I realized that one of everyone's favorite runty snake is still super runty. I wanted to share how runty she is to those who are not familiar with her.

May I reintroduce Frog.

She is a 50% Poss het Clown female I hatched out in 2008.

She is the one next to the Pastel Pied.

She only weighs around 250 grams. No matter what I do, she still stays runty. She is a VERY picky eater, but she does eat. I've moved her around to try and stimulate her feeding response, and right now that means that she is in the 2010 holdback rack in a 6qt tub.

Yeah.

She's a small one.

And because I took a picture of the Pastel Pied out, I wanted to get an individual photo as well.

He's so preeeeetty!

And new things are still hatching. I apparently struck gold on this Spinnerblast clutch. I have two out, and one still in the egg.

This gal came out last night after I took the photo.

So I have 1.1 Spinnerblasts now, and 0.0.1 Spinnerblast in the egg.

What else is in the clutch?

0.1 Spinner
0.0.1 Spider
0.1.1 Pinstripe

Yeah! NO NORMALS! I LOVE it!

And, to top it all off, one of my Poss Het Females has proven out to be Het for Caramel, apparently.

Yeah, so that is a really crappy photo of a Caramel in the egg. I am concerned about its health, being prone to kinks and all, but we shall see. This will be my first Caramel I have ever hatched out, so lets see what happens!

So this weekend will be a hatching weekend, and on Monday I will have more photos, I hope.

Have a fantastic weekend, my friends!

TSK Axanthics and color

Well, they are all out, and I am very pleased with them.

Of course they always look amazing when they just hatch out, but I have to say, I'm very excited to see these grow.

Yes, this was done with flash, but.... I have a very dark room, so yeah.

There was 2.4 hatched out, all 50% poss het Albino to boot! Too bad there are no Snows in there, but at least I know what the deal is, eh?

And there is the group with one of the Pastel het Pieds to show the color and to prove that I am not messing with the photo (cause I have no idea how to anyway).

Here are the two boys, sitting pretty and looking handsome.

And the girls..

I am very happy with this clutch, even though it didn't prove out to be what I was hoping for. They are still awesome, and I can't wait to see them shed out and show their true colors.

And on Friday night, this female Het Caramel laid for me.

Seven good eggs. We are at clutch 28, my friends. Lets hope for some awesome Caramels out of this.

Have a fantastic day, my friends. Its the beginning of an awesome week.

Happy Fourth of July

The Fourth of July for us was a big to do.

Two more clutches were on the ground Sunday morning, one of which I was waiting for, and the other I am waiting to see what happens.

Lets touch on the "waiting to see what happens" clutch.

This is a female I bought several years ago that is supposedly 100% het Caramel Albino. Problem is, I never got the paperwork on her, and she was sold to me because she was a poor feeder. If she does prove out, it would be fantastic, but I'm hesitant to call her a 100% het until I see what comes out of the egg.

She was bred to a Visual Caramel male, so even though she only gave me 4 eggs (yes, she was a small one, and is more than 3 years old), she should be a make or break het this season.

I found her originally with three and one more to lay, so this is right after she was done.

And then, there was the one I was waiting for.

I love Spinners, and I love Spinner Blasts. I have no Lemon Blast or Spinner females, so this clutch will be very important for the collection.

Lemon Blast male to Spider female.

She was a good Momma, and a first time mother as well.

This is one of my more exciting clutches for seeing what pops out. I can't wait, cause I LOVE Spinners, and Spinner Blasts just sweetens the pot.

KABOOOM!

What a fantastic Fourth of July!

Now to see these little gems hatch in two months.

Have a fantastic week, my friends.
