Not done yet!

Chubby Female Pastel
Well, the season is coming to a close, but I'm not even done yet! I know we have mentioned that planning for the next season is already underway, as I tend to start my next breeding season on my Birthday, but this time it may not happen.

With everything going on, my Birthday actually falls on the Saturday of the Sacramento Reptile Show, so while we will be snake-ing that day, I will not be able to pair up any animals.

I am expecting two more clutches to lay, one from the female above and another late female as well. The incubator is still on, and I doubt that it will be shut down until January at this point..

But that is alright!
It doesn't mean that things aren't going to happen, it just means that things are going to happen a bit later than usual.

I'm also trying to get around to taking a lot of new pictures of critters, as the collection variety has expanded.

I fully intend on getting a few more things done, as well as photos and introduce some new topics to discuss, a few of which have been requested.

I am also doing a few auctions on my Facebook Page located here. If you are on Facebook, check out my page and like it! If you want to be involved in the auctions, you must like the page. Some great deals happen over there, including discounts on purchases and fun games!

Anyway, have a great Monday, my friends.

Bleh on waiting

Black Pewter
 I am waiting.

Waiting on eggs to be laid, waiting on eggs to hatch, waiting waiting waiting.

This time of year is especially tedious, considering there are many breeders and hobbyists out there already hatching their 7th clutch or something, while I am waiting for my number one.

Although I shouldn't complain, really. I know other people that are waiting for their first clutch to even be laid...

I know, I know...

But one incubator is completely full, and the other is waiting for more, and I am waiting and checking in tubs and annoying my snakes.

Pastel Mojave

So what to do while waiting?
Take requests for photos, and blog topics and sit on my hands and rock back and forth.

Well, not quite, but idle hands are the devil's playground, and I honestly should not be associating with anyone from The Underworld right now. It's just not kosher...

So I am going to clean like I have never cleaned before, and prepare myself for some interesting clutches and babies and fun things to happen.

YAY!

But until then, I am going to ramble on.

And share random pictures of my snakes.

Have a great day, my friends.

Oh weather...

The weather here in Southern California is known to be somewhat odd, but it is getting a bit ridiculous already this year. The rains and the heat keep coming and going. Yesterday there was a heat wave, with highs in the 90s, while the week before, it was raining.

This concerns me more because of the females that are still developing or getting thrown off by the weather. I know I am. I dislike the extreme heat of Southern California, but this is where I live.

So I believe the heat will pass in the next few days, and we will get cooler weather again, and then it will get hot again. AWESOME! This may be the reason why the females I am watching to lay are "hinky" so to speak, as in off their timing.

It puts me in such a bad mood when it gets too hot out here. I don't like being too hot. Sweat is not my friend. And add working in a heated snake room to the mix? Not a good combination. Summers in Southern California are great near the ocean... Not too great inland.

But such is life, and we continue on with it, as we must.

Oh, by the way.... No eggs still.

Scar is now on my boo-boo list. I'm hoping for the eggs to come before the weekend, but I will give it until Monday. That is an almost sure bet. Am I putting any money on it? Not on your life.. Not the way things are going.

So of course, to go with my random ramblings, I have included random photos of animals. I hope you enjoy them!

I have been sharing a lot of the 2010s because they are just easier to photograph. I need to get in there and get some better pictures of some older stuff. Maybe tomorrow... I've been moving critters around and am not sure who to pick first.

Have a great day, my friends!

ACK!

I am running out of time.

Things are getting busy, and I have to say that I do not have enough time in the day.

Right now, as we speak, I am trying to figure out what additional things I have to do before the show, which seems like tons.

I am getting shirts printed out, I am getting more acrylic displays, I am getting new cards printed out....

Doing shows is stressful, and this is the first of many this year, my friends.

I am mentally going a mile a minute, but with everything I have to do still, I am not really prepared.

But that's alright.

I have some time, and although I have way too much going on this week and next with other non-snake related things, the snake things are absolutely first and foremost.

So, here we are.

Random update: The Clown male, Homey, is doing fantastic in his quarantine rack with a few other of his friends. I was doing water and feeding, and he was the one I had to take photos of. I am very proud of him. He looks good! I can't wait to throw him in with some females next year... just not sure what quite yet.

And this is my holdback Black Pewter het Hypo, albeit washed out with the flash. I need to work on that, but he is really really nice. I am very excited to have him to plug into the Hypo stuff I have going on.

So there it is, folks. I'm off to go do some stuff, hopefully snake stuff, and I wish you a fantastic day!

That shouldn't be there...

Well, I finally have had a chance to take some requested pictures, and we will touch on this topic today.

That shouldn't be there...

The topic of the blog, and you wonder, what are you talking about, Heather?

Well, I have a female that has had ever since I have had her (or since I noticed, and I have had her for four years or so...) holes that do not belong where they are placed.

This is a photo that I took a year ago of under the chin heat pits, so to speak.

They are not heat pits from what I can see (aka no functionality), but they are holes for sure, in a distinct pattern, similar to heat pits.

Again, a photo from last year...

Now I am not sure exactly what caused them, and I know that none of my animals have them but this gal, so at this point it is a mystery.

This is a recent pic, taken last night.

They are still there! Not as deep or obvious, but they are still there.

This is something I've been watching for a while since I've noticed it, so there it is. It shouldn't be there, it is there, and I'm not sure why they are there.

She has always been housed in an enclosed tub with no ridges to rub on, always on Sanichips, and never been a problem other than a picky eater.

So... What do you all think it is?

I'm somewhat stumped.

But so we will watch and wait and learn, eh?

Should be interesting. She has yet to be bred as well, so let us see if next year she passes this on to her progeny?

I can name it the Bottom Lip Ball.

Yeah, maybe not.

Anyway, I took a picture of one of the Black Pewter het Hypo males I hatched out. He's going to be a holdback.

I like how busy and weird the Black Pewters are. I'm used to seeing the smooth patterns of the Cinnies, and this just throws me for a loop in a good way. I want more of them!

He should be an awesome breeder, and I can't wait to get him up to size and throw him into a bevy of Ghost gals. Hypo Black Pewters, here I come!

Have a fantastic day, my friends.
