Pewters and Sterlings

Ahh yes, the Pewter.

Cinnamon Pastel and Pastel all rolled up into one.

Wait, WHAT?
All this Pastel stuff is giving me a headache, you say.
How can a Cinnamon also be a Pastel?
Well, before you continue (if you are confused), please read this.

Welcome back.

Yes, Cinnamon x Pastel.

Let us continue.

Pewters are awesome, and Black Pewters (Black Pastel x Pastel) are also awesome.
But let us focus on the Cinnamon Pewters, as these are the ones in the photos.

Take a good look at this Pewter.

You see how it looks?

It's pretty, isn't it?

A nice blushed out back, with lots of beautiful squiggles of yellow and gold, topped off with some nice mauve, copper and taupe tones.

Fancy, huh?

This is what the beauty of snakes does to me. Gets me all artistic.

Of course, this lovely creature is fantastic in its own right, but what about if we took a look at a Sterling.

A Sterling being a Pastel Pewter (which is kind of redundant in a way...)

Pastel x Pastel x Cinnamon

That makes more sense.

LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE AN EXTRA PASTEL GENE MAKES!!!

This guy grew up SILVER, even in adulthood. I'm sure he was even more strikingly silver as a baby, but compared to a regular pewter, these colors are unmistakably different!
Let us attempt to artistically describe this guy.

A completely striped back of silver tone, complimented by bright yellow sides with additional blushing, and squiggles that are a nice blond if you will. The silver shades are complimented by some darker shades of grey.

FANTASTIC

And of course, all of this to say what, Heather?

Pastels do great things...

Super Pastels make things more interesting to say the least.

From the base morph into the combinations, Pastels are awesome.
Can you imagine what else can be done with other base morphs that haven't been out as long as Pastels have been?

AHHHHHHHHH!!!!

The possibilities!!

I get giddy just thinking about it, my friends.
I really do.

And I hope you do too.

Have a FANTASTIC day, my friends!

Hey Boys! (Continued)

So of course, I am not done with the boy introduction.

Above is my first recessive morph boy, my Albino. He has been with me for a long time now, and I have to say, I am always floored by the colors and photos that he takes. I LOVE Albinos.

They do so much, look so fantastic, and really just are amazing morphs. Even Joe Blow down the street appreciates the Albino morph.

And below, my beloved Pee-Oh-Gee.

POG?

Pastel Orange Ghost.

He is awesome, and a great breeder. He has a date with his Spider het Ghost girlfriend from this past season.

And here is my Pastel het Pied male. He is not so bright, but he does his job, and he does it well! I really love his pattern too...

And my TSK Axanthic het Albino male, that I hope and pray will actually make me a Snow this year. He has a date with his Albino het Axanthic girl friend. I just hope she gives me more than four eggs this year... And that she actually breeds and gives me eggs!

How can one forget my amazing male Genetic Stripe, with his solid awesome kick-ass stripe?
He has a date with his Het Gals, as well as maybe a Mojave or something? I love the Butter Stripe!

Pastel Yellowbellies are AWESOME, and this guy is no exception. He is a great breeder, and although I have no real idea what to put him with, he will be breeding with something this year..

How can you go wrong with a Sterling? Pewters and Pastels is the least he can provide... This guy is one of the prize males I have here, and I am sure I will find him a bevy of females that he will like.

More to come again soon!

Have a fantastic day, my friends.

Clutch #21: Sterling x Spider

Clutch 21 is on the ground, and I am glad to see it. This is a clutch that I forgot to take a picture of Momma on eggs, but that I have been excited about.

Sterling male bred to a Spider female, so everything should be Pastel if not something "better", so we can expect Bumblebees, Pewterbees, Pastels, and Pewters.

I'm glad to see it in the ground. Should be a great clutch!

Also, clutch #2 is pipping, and it looks like the Poss Het Pied female didn't prove out. Four het Pieds in the egg, and we shall see what the sex odds are when they come out.

I am expecting a few more clutches this week and next, and then a lull. Seems like it will be an interesting season this year in terms of what hatches out when.

I have my records from last year and am comparing to this year. It has been so far a little later than last year, but with the way things are going, this year should outshine the last in terms of clutches.  Last year, we had 30 clutches, and this year, I'm hoping to get there. We are at 21, so we're not too far off. Lets see how it works out in the next few months, eh?

Plus, with everything happening, I may have a few more females that are going later than initially planned. We shall see....

Have a fantastic day, my friends!

Pairings of recent note

Well, I have been missing the actual locks of a lot of my animals this season. Why? I have no idea...
Maybe I'm not actually getting locks, which would make me very sad, so lets just say I'm missing them!
But here are a few I did catch!

This is my male Lemon Blast to a female Spider. He's having a good ole' time in there, getting the job done.
And the Sterling attempting a Black Pastel female. He has managed before, and he shall do so again, but apparently I am going to be missing it again...

And the Axanthics together (not locked, but oh so cute, in bad lighting that makes them look awful)... Hopefully I can prove the female to be Het for Albino as well this year!

I have to say, I'm sad to be missing these locks that are happening, as that always gets me hyped up for the action ahead. Since I haven't been seeing it as much as I would normally, I feel like the season may not be all I hoped it would be.

BUT... lets not fret, my friends. The eggs are not yet laid, the season is not yet over, and we have plenty of time.

Let us think positively and hope that there are plenty more locks to be seen and photographed and enjoyed in the near future.

Have a fantastic day, my friends!

Another Adventure in the Life of Marty Cohen

We have not visted upon one of the mascots of the Heather's Herps family in a while.

Let us say hello again to Marty Cohen.

Marty Cohen lives in the snake room, next to the supply pens and issues.

He also lives several stories above some of the rodents. He tends to enjoy watching them. FREQUENTLY. He is a cat, after all. But don't worry, he can't get at them. They are safe... for now.

And cause all he does is wander around the snake room, he tends to lounge around, including on the scale. It's nice and cool, but he is getting a bit chubby... He used to way less before we took him in and gave him a home. What a spoiled kitty cat.

He does have a kinky side. He likes to watch his friend, Sterling, attempt to get it on... (Naughty Naughty Cat) Not sure why, but... hey, to each his own.

He also likes hanging out with the Ghosts...
She scares him a little, especially being deep in shed and being a bit dirty. BOOO!!!

He also likes hanging out with the spicy ladies... including this Cinnamon gal.
Ai-ai-ai! Que Caliente es!

They like each other alot.

But at the end of the day, after all of the hanging out and lounging around, Marty Cohen likes to cuddle back into his basket and go to sleep...

Go to sleep, Marty Cohen.

Until next time, my friends, we say goodbye to Marty Cohen. When will we encounter him again? We shall see...

Have a great day!
