FINALLY!!!

Now I don't look like such a dork by saying "I'm totally waiting for eggs this week" and having nothing to show for it.



Clutch #9 is on the ground, my friends. It was rather unexpected, only because this was NOT the female I had anticipated dropping first. I was watching another female, and this one slipped by me.

I honestly think that these eggs were laid on Monday morning or Sunday night, as they are a little caved in (humidity is not 100%), but I'm not complaining!



Clutch #9, G-Stripe to 50% Poss Het female #4, 4 good eggs. Let us hope that she proves out... So far my poss hets have not been too lucky, so I need redemption!



And proud proven breeder poppa! Yeah, Gee! Go boyeee.

So hopefully the females I was watching to lay last week will lay this week as well. Seems like when it rains, it pours, and then we have an egg drought for a bit. As long as we get eggs... No prob.

Fun with Fidel, and Snake Lull

Well, this weekend was not very snakey at all.

Of course I did take care of them, cleaned them and so forth, but nothing awesome really happened this weekend in regards to snakes. No eggs, no non feeders eating, no real news...

Kinda sad, really.

So, I have decided to tell the story of my Saturday night.

We shall call it "Fun with Fidel"

Let us begin.

Once upon a time there was a man named Fidel, and his friend Jaime. Apparently, they were excited about being born or something, and they wanted to make a party out of it. So we all congregated outside a restaurant called "Tokyo Delves" in North Hollywood.

It is apparently a big party spot, as the house was sold out. The stars were all hanging out!


One of the biggest pulls for this place is all of the drink. Sake bombs were very popular, as well as the Sapporo kegs. The Sushi wasn't bad.. It was very pretty!


It was her Birthday too... She was enjoying herself.

It was very entertaining, and we didn't get home til LATE that Night/Morning.

Sunday was recovery day. Snake cleaning, workout, slow day. Poking in tubs for eggs, but to no avail.. But at least I got a recovery day!

Saw Up. Was a really cute and touching story. I suggest going to see it!

Aggravation and dissapointment

Well... this week seems to be the week of Debbie Downer syndrome.

How sad is that.

Things are just not going as planned (do they ever?) but to the point where I am actually dissapointed, and not brushing it off.

Lets begin with the first point.

My Axanthic het Albino to Albino ph Axanthic clutch is down to THREE eggs. One is going bad as we speak. I really really really wanted to prove her out this year, and I know I still have a chance, but THREE eggs on 1/4 odds of hatching a Snow is not to promising. (Thank you to the anonymous tipster that corrected my odds...)

Sure, I still have a chance, and yes, I know I'm lucky to have the clutch at all, but still... what a kick in the knockers for me. My best clutch so far of the season, and it is getting smaller.

And of course, my main aggravation of the year so far, the Cinny who may or may not be gravid, but I really really want her to be.



This photo was taken on Weds after cleaning. She looks pretty slim and trim to me, which makes me sad. Pewter was there with her for a while, but he didn't seem to be interested, and neither was she. I'm hoping I'm just missing the signs and the Ball Python Gods will bless me with an amazing miracle clutch that I have been breathlessly waiting for.

Someone once told me to dance around naked for the Ball Python Gods mercy. I'm getting close in desperation to trying it. Wouldn't hurt, right?

I wanted to share this all with you, my friends, but I realize that it is Friday (which is great), and it is the weekend coming up. I hope that I will have better news to share, and that we will be in a better mood come Monday.

Maybe that Albino egg will antimold? Get better and turn into two eggs? That would be AWESOME.

Oh well.

Meh... and Blonde Paunch

Well, today so far hasn't started out as well as I had hoped. Woke up tired again, rolled out of bed, went to work, and subsequently forgot my lifeblood, aka my cell phone.

Of course when I get to it, there will be 534902 missed calls. (This is not a suggestion to call my phone today, by the way, my friends...)

Bleh.

Oh well.

Life goes on.

With green tea in hand, I barrel on.


Now last night was major cleaning night, and after coming home from the gym, I wasn't too keen on doing it, but I did! I also cleaned the rodents.

Let me tell you.

I am not the most coordinated with the tongs, and at least once every few months I drop a rat on the floor, and then run frantically around to try and catch it.

I need to do better with them.. its sad, really. I look like a complete fool bending over with hemostats trying to catch a rat by the tail.

So after that additional workout (it happened twice in two days...), being dirty and covered in wood shavings, I finally got down and took more photos!



I love Yellowbellies. I really think they are one of the more underrated morphs out there, and they even make a (sortof) white snake!!! How can you not want that???

I am really a huge fan of them, and I want like 10 more. Maybe this year, I can trade up..

Anyway, this is my youngest YB, an 08' I picked up from a local friend.

YAY YBs. And the combos out there with them are just amazing!

Ahh, yellowbellies.. not yellow in the belly, nor mustard, nor lemon, nor saffron... but extrordinary none the less.

Its the wierdest thing...

So recently we have been having some very strange weather. Overcast in the morning to afternoon, warmer by the end of the day, and then overcast again. There is even some hail falling locally...

Last night, we had a thunder and lightning storm as well!

Regal didn't do very well. He barked a lot and jumped up on the bed several times, which in turn woke me up frequently. He's usually much better at dealing with it, but apparently this new house and new storm doesn't bode very well for his sanity.

So I am a tad bit tired, to tell you the truth.



Anyway, we continue on...

So far there are no more eggs in sight for a few more days. I have some females that SHOULD go these next few weeks, but then again, they may suprise me. Gotta love it!

With everything on pause mode, I am trying to figure out what would happen if I don't get what I need out of this season. I was/am really shooting for a Silver Bullet, but my Cinny female is just not quite looking the way she should. I don't want to count her out, but if I don't get eggs, that was a huge project for me this season.

ACK!!!

As I well know, things don't always work the way we plan. These past couple of seasons for me never quite worked out, so I was hoping for a cool triple co-dom... Plus the Super Cinnies are one of my favorites!!! Oh well. Let us hope that I am just missing the signs.

Anyway, let us focus on the positive! Here is what should be coming out soon!

Jackie, This Blog's for You!

I noticed there was a question yesterday by my blog friend Jackie about Liquid Bandaid.

What is it for, and why?

Well, let me tell you!

This is New Skin, a type of Liquid Bandaid. I honestly am getting less and less likely to continue to use this product, because of the ingredients. For some odd reason, it has oil of clove, and the smell always makes me concerned for the egg and continued incubation. It may just be in my head, but I am making one final attempt at using it before just using it on people.



I bought this bottle four years ago, and have only used it twice. Once, it didn't work, but I think it was because the mold took too deep of hold. We shall see what happens this year, and if it continues to work with no ill effects from the oils and alcohol, we may have to reconsider, but... we shall see.



So here are the eggs in question. Do you see that random large circle and green spots where it looks like an egg was laying? Yeah, that is where the bad egg was.

So to prevent any more growth of mold or possibilities for invasions of the baddies, we put a coat of preventative to make the egg shell stronger in that weakened area.



So in a major feat of balancing and magic, I managed to take this photo (albeit not in focus) by myself, of what you would do. Take the liquid bandaid, and put a couple of swipes on the spots on the egg in question. Let it air dry, and VOILA!



Keep an eye on it, and make sure no mold or etc is growing from the spots you treated. If there are still growths, you may just have to let the egg go. It happens...

Continue to incubate as normal. Just watch the clutch more closely.

It was bound to happen...

Well, it is official.

I have lost my first egg to mold this season. It was not horrible, but it was bad enough. The last clutch I had, the 7 egg clutch from my Blurry girl to my Pewter is now down to 6.

I removed the egg from the group (carefully), and now, hope that there will not be any other problems. I'll probably have to break open the liquid bandaid if I see anything else on the other eggs (which are all fine so far), but for now, we are good. I'm just keeping watch pretty well.

Updates to come if there are any problems.



So this weekend was rather uneventful snakewise. I fed, no one is really eating, and I have rodents all over the place. Hopefully there will be more eggs soon. It looks like I'll be getting some this week at the tail end, but I don't count on it. (Anticipation and being wrong sucks!)



So, in the lack of egg photos and so forth and so on, I took some good photos of one of my Black Pastel fems that is kicking back here with me in Cali.

She is a hottie, and yes, I am partial to Black Pastels over Cinnamons. Why? Cause I just like them better. Love the pattern, love the color, but Cinnies are still rockin awesome!
