Catching up with Hatchings

So yeah..

Still catching up with hatchings and layings and stuff like that.

Here is a clutch that was laid last night.

I am VERY excited for this clutch.

I got this pair from a friend of mine who has been working with the VPI Axanthics and the Spotnoses, and I was lucky enough to be offered this pair.

I used the male last year to produce a few fun combinations, but this was the pairing I really wanted out of him, as I do not work primarily with VPI Axanthics. She is one of the only VPI Axanthic female thingies I have...

So of course, I had to put them together.

And I'm glad I did! I really hope to hit on a Powerball, since I think those are super fun, and if it just so happens to be an Axanthic Powerball, I will be even more stoked!

Fingers crossed for these guys.

On to the babies...

These all hatched out this past weekend. ALL of them, including some that I will post tomorrow.

This here is my Pastel Pied to Het Pied clutch. Didn't do too shabby on this one. 2.1 Pastel Pieds, 0.1 Pieds, and 1.0 Het Pied.

The Pastel Pieds look very odd in this clutch. I am wondering why they are so dark, but they are very interesting, almost granite-y.

I like them!

I plan on debating on keeping the female. I may, I may not. (She is the one in the top right).
Debating with myself is part of the fun of figuring out what the heck I'm going to do in the future. It's always a fun time.

And this clutch was a fail.. These babies were the only survivors from the Mojave Spider to Cinnamon clutch. Four eggs went bad, and these were the only ones left.

0.1 Cinnamon, 0.1 Mojave, 1.0 Normal

They are pretty though, eh?

Sigh...

More tomorrow!

Have a great day, my friends.

Dang... but YAY!

Well, apparently the camera that we used to take photos of the show is acting up and we cannot download the photos as of yet.

We will keep trying!

But right now, I can update you on some pairings..

This here is my Silver Bullet, Lucky, with a Pastel Lesser female. She had no interest in anyone so far, but Lucky got lucky and made it happen.

This here is a pairing that I was debating on doing this year, but since the opportunity arose and they seemed interested, I paired them up.

These are siblings from back in 2010, my Double Het Albino Pieds...

And just for confirmation, look! There is a lock.

There is one more female that I may pair up with him. I'm not sure exactly what I plan to do as of yet, as this pairing was not planned anyway...

Hmmmmmm

This pairing is another sibling pairing, a pair of Spotnose het VPI Axanthics... If I hit on the VPI Axanthic Powerball, that will be SWEET!

Fingers crossed on that one.

And last but not least, a non-related pairing this time. Mojave Spider male with a Cinnamon female. I am not a huge fan of the Cinnamon Spiders, but a Mojave Cinnamon Spider should be pretty sweet. We shall see, eh?

Anyway, that is what is happening so far... Nothing super outstandingly amazing, but nothing too shabby.

Last clutch of the season should be popping up in another two weeks, and then I can turn the incubator off for a few months.

It will be a relief for a bit not to worry about eggs and to worry about breeding.

Have a great day, my friends.

Clutch 34: Hmmmmm

Welcome to the world, Clutch 34!

This is a clutch in which I have some regrets...

Why, do you ask? Well... I am fairly certain that the Spider het Axanthic is NOT a het Albino, so now I am not going to get my Albino Spiders out of this clutch.

But, of course, how would I have known? And maybe, JUST MAYYYBE... He is a Het and I hadn't hit on it yet.

So my fingers are crossed, but not super crossed.

Five chances. Let's see what happens in a couple months, eh?

Oh! Yesterday and today things finished hatching.

Here is clutch 17, Pee-Oh-Gee to Het Ghost. Apparently, it was not to be with this pairing in more ways than one. 3.0 Het Ghosts, 0.1 Pastel het Ghost.

Ouch.

And another ouch, this time more painful. My Lemonblast to Pastel clutch went partially bad, and only three eggs made it thru.  Of course, I end up with a Normal male. But... in the end:

1.0 Normal, 0.1 Super Pastel, 0.1 Lemonblast

I love the way the Super and the Lemonblast look. Here's to some growth and progress to see how they look in a month.

While waiting for cool new babies to pip out in a few days, I took some fun pictures of what I have here at the collection.

Here we have one of my Spotnose females. I have no idea what I plan to do with her, but I know that it's going to be AWESOME when she is ready. We have another year or so, so the wheels aren't quite turning yet, but... we shall see.

And this girl is my Bumblebee het Hypo female from last year. I know that she will be going to something Hypo, but I am not sure what I want to do with her either.

Seems to be a trend? Yes, well... I keep what I know will be great to have, and figure out what to breed to them when they are ready.

So now I have to get a something something het Hypo and something that would be great to work with the Spotnose.

Hmmmmm.

What do you guys think?

Happy Fourth of July!

Well, the babies came out this weekend, and it is very obvious that they are Pastel Spotnoses.
Spotnoses are wierd looking critters in the egg, with the heads with all that pattern!

I really like what they do to Pastels, and vice versa. I thought I would be dissapointed with the way these guys were going to turn out, being just yellow and stuff, but I am actually very impressed with this morph and how it changes things!

One of them came out so bright, I was surprised! There is no way it is a Super, but then again, I have no idea what may be messing with the color other than the fact that it is possible het VPI Axanthic, and they tend to be a bit lighter. I'm honestly not sure. Plus the "Pastel" in the clutch looks like an Enchi... So I have no idea what is going on here until they shed. But it's a great clutch.

1.2 Pastel Spotnoses ph VPI Axanthic, 0.1 Spotnose ph VPI Axanthic, 0.1 "Pastel" and 1.0 Normal.

Not too shabby.

I'm happy!

So have a great fourth of July, and be safe. We'll be talking again real soon.

Have a great day, my friends.

A few of what?

There are morphs out there that are a bit harder to identify than others... And those are the ones that seem to be hard to find and sometimes fade into obscurity, until one fine day a Breeder blends that morph with something else to make something AMAZING.

And then the demand shoots up like crazy.

Well, I hope to be one of those Breeders, and I got a few obscure morphs to share with you all.

Now of course, part of the reason these morphs are off the radar, so to speak, is because they don't have the WOW factor that some morphs (like the Albino, Pastel, etc) do.

So I have to admit, I didn't get into them as much as I would have liked, but now I have a few more to play with.

Welcome to the fold, Spotnoses, Pastel Het Red Axanthics, and Womas...

Spotnoses are not something that stand out at ALL. But they make the Powerball, as well as a bunch of amazing combinations that I can't wait to work with.

Pastel het Red Axanthics have always been a favorite of mine, because they actually do something to the Pastel that makes it interesting! If you share this photo with a newbie, they will be able to point out that yes, this Pastel has something else to it.

I love the blushing on the back of these gals... And the head coloration is also fantastic.

And of course, the Woma.  The Spider's non-wobbling distant cousin that has a Super form. They do look similar, and lucky for you, tomorrow I have the blog to compare them! I love Womas, and I can't wait to try my hand at making some fun combinations with them. This little girl is too small for plans yet, but that's alright. I can dream....

Have a great day, my friends!

Breeding and hatching

Well, a few of the babies hatched out of the two clutches that were left for the season. Since they are hatching at the same time, I put them all together.

So far, we have 1.2 100% het Pieds, with 2 Pieds in the egg, and the rest (5 or 6 more off the top of my head) are 100% het Pieds.

One of the Pieds looks like a screamer, so lets hope its a girl!

And while waiting for the eggs to hatch, and while the rains are pouring down here in the southland, breedings are afoot.

I caught these two locks while with the camera, so here we are.

Here is my scarred up Female Pastel. I call her "Baby" just cause I feel so bad for her scars. They are a few years old now, but they still are scars... They will always be scars.

But she got one of the babies too. She is being bred by my "I thought he may not be interested since he is so small" Spotnose het VPI Axanthic male.

I look forward to having a few Pastel Spotnoses in the collection. Poss het VPI Axanthic doesn't hurt either!

And this guy is no stranger to pairing up. You all remember "Pee-Oh-Gee", right? Well, he is getting it on with one of his poss het girls (This gal is het for Albino, but yet to be proven het for Ghost. Fingers crossed!) She had been put with him before a few years back, but I don't believe he produced with her. Lets hope to see some Ghost babies in this clutch.. That way I can make the Sunglow Ball Python!

The rain isn't going to let up any time soon, so hopefully tomorrow I can get some photos of some other locks to share with you all.

Until then, have a fantastic day, my friends!

Some of the newbies

I have always wanted these morphs, and over the past few months, I actually managed to get them into the collection. I am pretty proud of myself!

This is my Pastel Calico female. She has a bit more pattern than I am used to a Calico (I prefer the Flora and Fauna line without any spots in the pattern) but I really like her! I hope to put her in with something with a reduced pattern thing, so that her spots are not an issue in the future. We have a few years to decide, however. What a joyous thing to be bothered with!

And of course, I have always loved the Powerball, so I had to get me some Spotnoses.
They don't look like much, and its just interesting to see that my Spotnoses do in fact have spots, but more than anything, I really love the possibilities with these guys.

This gal here is also het for VPI Axanthic, which is the second line of Axanthics I am working with. I don't have any visuals at this point with the VPI line, but I have full intentions of getting a few females over the next few years. This gal has a boyfriend that is also a Spotnose het VPI Axanthic, so I hope to hit on the VPI Axanthic Powerball eventually. We shall see!

Until then, I'll be playing with Spotnose combos possible het VPI Axanthics.
Keep an eye out for them in the next season or so!

So there you go. I hope to be able to share a few more new morphs to the collection over the next few weeks (quarantine and all), as well as some of the baby holdbacks that are getting big.

Until then, have a fantastic day, my friends.
